I'm fairly new to this game, but my first character I rolled a DK. I'm currently learning how to tank and doing well at it, however, my Unholy DPS is slacking quite a bit as I can only manage 4.5k(ish) DPS in 25man voa. I also looked at elitestjerks and tried to follow what they recommend. I have about a 5k gear score and stacking ton of strength, is it because I'm using Tyrannical Beheader, or am I just not playing the job right or talents not right? (Sorry if this is too general =x only been 80 for like 3 weeks).

Edit3: I'm sure people will ask about my rotation, I currently use Icy Touch -> Plague Strike -> (Pest if multiple) -> Blood Strike x2 -> Scourge Strike x2 -> Death coil till no RP, and I'm stuck waiting a few secs for runes to recharge, in which I spam blood strike/scourge strike till I need to reapply diseases.

Don't go frost sub-spec until your gear is up to par. AKA 4pc t9 and no blues and stuff. It's only a dps gain when your gear starts to scale poorly with blood supspec. You have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much hit. Also, the 10crit/15stam gem is really bad. 10str/15stam is better, but you 10stats gem is just better. You still have some tank gear on, so it'd be better if you had full dps gear on. Lemme go on wowheroes.

As far as the tank pieces go, it was better than my alternatives at the time, and haven't came across anything that would be better, and working on frost emblems for dps cape. As for sub spec, I'll swap back to blood, gem was only to activate meta socket which needed red/yellow/blue (green covered both yellow/blue)
Edit: Trying to get H HoR DPS Shoes and H FoS Crit Trinket to replace my low item level/blue. Any suggestion for replacing my tank ring? (Besides ICC one, I plan on taking tank ring.)

If you have some free money around could get Greatness for trinket, is a good investment imo since trinkets are a pain to get, also for rotation this site has a good guide on it (yea lolensidia but guide is good):

And how was said use blood sub instead frost till your gear gets better, dunno if you want to save emblems and use on tier gear first up to you, my dk is kinda new too i just got the 264 pvp cape till i can get a better upgrade, you can farm H Hor for boots too (although they never drop and when they do you will lose roll to a tank!).

Your gear is pretty similar to mine, my lolgs is 5080 and i was doing 6.5k dps on tora the other day.

Edit: since your expertise is a bit low, H Hor last boss drops too a ring with expertise.

So anyone know if the crazy amount of exp for a Call to Arms BG win is intended or not? A WSG win on WSG weekend is giving like 40% of a level, lol.

Had started another toon. Troll hunter and is level 16 right now. Been trying to find a good spec guide while leveling but haven't found much. Put 5/5 into endurance training and 1/2 into thick hide so far. Am I doing it wrong ?

Hunter is retardedly easy to level, you really can't do it wrong.

For leveling, most people will tell you to do Beast spec since it buffs your pet so much where you just sit back and unload on your target.

MM and Surv. spec are gonna be your DD specs...a lot of dmg but hard time for your pet to keep aggro unless you wait a second for them , then start shooting. If you are gonna do pure instance leveling, then go MM or Surv. My hunter is sitting at 62... I switched to MM from BM, and haven't had a problem yet.

Speccing into the daze talents in MM makes leveling retardedly easy as well, you tend to blow up mobs before they can really do anything, and lets you do instances as well as quests with a large amount of ease.

If you can get a pet that has a stun ability (Boar for charge for example, I used a ravager myself, was a pain to get though), and gives you even more time to destroy the mob before he can really do anything to you.

After they've put in the dungeon system, whenever I level new chars and get dungeons with hunters I am jealous of them. I would probably have had a blast leveling hunter with BoA gear with this random dungeon thing in place.

So, as I'm flying around ICC looking for mining points, I was traveling over the mountains SW of the Argent Tournament Grounds, and I found myself flying through a flock of about a dozen named elite Valkyr.

Anyone know what that was about? I've only seen it the one time.

Timed event, they show up once an hour and attempt to raid the grounds. Among them are Fjola Lightbane and Eydis Darkbane, the Twin Valkyr. iirc the chick from ToC5 comes out and gives them a sound thrashing, and has two priests come out and shackle them, causing the rest to retreat.

Every boss in ToC10/25 are represented on the grounds -- Icehowl of course is asleep along the champion's jousting ring, the Jormungars are lassoed on the other end of it, Gormok's snobolds are caged up by the Sunreaver's Sanctuary, the horde and alliance champions are all hanging around campfires on the east side, gnomebait is flapping his gums up on the platform leading into the raid...and if you hang around the grounds long enough, you'll see the occasional scarab burrow up, run across the grounds, and burrow back down :D

I didnt know about the scarab, it's pretty sweet. I love it when blizzard make an effort to make the world look "alive". It doesnt have to be anything huge, but tiny details like this always help.

Why the hell does having a draenei in my group change what the spreadsheet tells me to gem, drastically? Draenei racial is +1% hit, how does that affect me gemming ALL haste with it, and gemming ALL attack power without it? I just used the spreadsheet, it says hey guy, you should gem 20Haste in yellow sockets and 20AP/10Haste in red sockets, and I was like hey, sure I'll do that, I love haste. Then I go into the settings and see that it says "Draenei in group" and I remove that, and I go back to the spreadsheet and... every optimal gem is now 40ap. I really don't see why this makes any difference since I'm above the poison hit cap with and without +1%. And I'm horde, so I'll never have a draenei.
