So theres a thread on the mage forums about the Image of Archmage Vargoth being targeted for defile and necrotic plague, is this true? If so, most awesome thing ever.

would be more awesome if he'd shout "DEFILE ON ME" or "NECROTIC PLAUGE ON ME" after he got it
Sounds awesome for Defile, not so much for plague since you kind of need that to kill horrors >.>
Good point, depends on how the script determines "expand defile" I guess since Vargoth can't actually be damaged.
Awesome as in a fun way not awesome as in a way to abuse game mechanics, imagine a raid leader "Ok, who was the fucktard that put down the Archmage"
So I'm writing a little bit of a mage guide in my bored time and was wondering if anyone knew any good online haste calculators? Specifically that can work with Arcane Mage/Fire Mage and figuring out if they are haste capped or not.
Can anyone tell me if this is at all good/accurate.

Yes its good and accurate.
Last night we did all of the first two wings and then blood prince as well. Wiped a few times since we never tried before but one time it seemed totally unnecessary :/ I was tanking the two princes on the right and I got trucked. Within .6 seconds I was hit for about 20k each time from melee swings and wasn't able to hit shield wall quick enough. Warrior tank so am I missing something or what?
Tips appreciated but glad I don't have to do that again till next week :/
The 2 on the right being the pure melee guys? We use 3 tanks on that fight and 4 ranged assigned specifically for keeping balls afloat. If you mean in 10s then there's not really much I can suggest though however. That fight isn't a dps race by any stretch of the imagination so keeping 4 dps rooted on bollock duty is not a big deal.
Yeah I guess there wasn't much I could do. Heals just needed to be more on the ball but .6 seconds you don't get a lot of time. Other than that my gear is good for now, only "bad" pieces I have is a PoS tanking sword and 2 tier 9 pieces.
Pop defensive cooldowns as you pull, helps give the healers a chance to catch up.
If getting smacked for 20k x2 was enough to splatter you in .6 seconds though, your health sounds absurdly low![]()
This was in the middle of a fight not at the beginning, I always run in with shield block.

Add flask + 20% more hp from buff, druid buff, priest buff, pally, and.. like 1.3k more hp from lock. All I remember it was about 61.2k~ ish with fish feast also.
Do you use armor potions? You can have an extra 3500 armor for 4 minutes of the fight by using them. Its been a long time since I tanked so I'm not sure how much damage % down they add but its definitly a nice perk.
So I have decided I wish to make a level 60 Twink Mage, I have all the gear picked out and such but there's one thing I do not know about: Professions. From what I understand all WOTLK benefits are out because you need to be 65 to train above 375, and I didn't really play during pre-BC. Even BC benefits are out since I can't gain rep with lvl 70 factions to get ring enchants.
So far I'm thinking Herbalism and Engineering, for Lifeblood and grenades but I was wondering if anyone had any input.
Oh and I'm aiming for 8 piece Netherwind (proc is godly) so things like engi goggles and trinkets are of no benefit to me.
I think you can train the gathering professions and get WotLK bonus', but I'm not certain.
No I'm pretty sure you need to be a certain level to advance professions past a certain point.
