Ok I've been out of the game for a little while (since just before WOTLK came out) so I'm not updated on the all the new features, but yesterday I ran across a Warrior in Stormwind rocking a Axe of Frozen Death and a Shield while prot specced. How is this possible? I looked at all the Prot Talents and there is nothing that mentions being able to use a 2h weapon and a shield that I saw.

Gulk: several things.

You're going to want to spec 2 points into mark of the wild after 3.1. Gives an additional 2% attack.

For cat you're going to want improved leader of the pack imo. Utility of quick mana regen if you ever need to pop out and do something is incredible. I solo decurse sapphiron as cat if we have no other druids or mages in a 10 man. Also makes for easier soloing and such. Feral aggression is absolutely worthless to a cat, especially after patch. Feral swiftness is a MUST for a cat, as is shredding attacks...Protector of the pack is worthless for dps.

You're also going to need to spend a point for primal gore for cat, and possibly bear

For bear you need natural reaction at 3

He wasn't though I made sure to check, he was 12/5/54 or something. I'm at work right now but I have the SS at home. Is there some other ability there or was the game just glitching out.

There was an exploit early on when TG was put into the game that if you respecced without removing your gear the 2h in your main hand wouldn't 'fall off' like it should have. I could swear that was patched away pretty swiftly, but if there's still a way around that I'm guessing that's what you saw.

Thorns gives alot threat, does decent damage (its like #5 on my recount sometimes!)
Love rebirth, especially if your in an instance and someone somehow dies, you can warstomp -> rebirth -> bear (like lokan fight) and stuff

Sorry, I didn't mean I don't use thorns, I mean the 60m timer with the glyph is kind of a pain...I'm used to refreshing it, so it messes with my head to not have to >.>

As for your builds, 5/5 Furor is purely a PvP concept now. You just don't need it in PvE content for tanking or DPS. And with the new Primal Gore coming out, you'll have to move some stuff. Those builds I linked before are probably the best you can get in a pure DPS or tank spec, any crossover will sacrifice one for the other in some fashion.

Kind of random, but is there a complete best in slot setup list for feral druid? I know I'm pretty close, but some of the decisions are getting to be kind of tough :/ Rawr isn't really helping since it calculates items out 1 by 1

Emmerald's list kinda works but it's badly configured for tanking, as it assumes no incoming healing and thus grossly overvalues stamina (Polar gear is BIS by his figures). His DPS chart should be mathematically accurate for BIS though since it uses Toskk's model which even EJ agrees with afaik.

The catch is, there really isn't a BIS configuration for tanking, as it varies by circumstance...Sarth+drakes you want lots of stamina, Patchwerk lots of avoidance/mitigation (assuming health is high enough for Hatefuls/you're hateful tank), so even Rawr is at a disadvantage there. With a little math on your part you can use the info Rawr gives you to more accurately determine what's an upgrade and a sidegrade for a given circumstance though.

Woops meant mainly for dpsing. Made my way back to top 5 back night (had a 3 week period which I needed to tank for, and got a shitton of dps stuff) but now i have so much stuff i can't pick the right configuration heh.

Here's what I'm thinking of doing:

Swap out dawnwalkers for footwraps of vile deceit, gem with strength and greater assault.
Wear belt of the tortured, gem it with a red gem (Using the blacksmith eternal belt buckle)
Swap out sinner's bindings for thrusting bands.

I'd lose 1.5% crit, but be hit capped, 5.75% expertise(instead of 4.75 exp and 7.5 hit). I think I'd also gain attack power out of it.

..or not just found a better combo. >.> this is getting to be confusing.

I don't like the thought of swapping out Dreamwalkers because those really do seem like the best footgear you can wear ever...no points wasted on weaker stats like haste rating or ArP. So much of kitty dps is yellow that haste means crap-all to us, though ArP might get better next patch, I keep hearing anecdotes about some change being made to it.

I agree with the other two swaps for much the same reasons, losing haste in favor of just about anything else is likely to be more beneficial than not, and hit/exp capping is always good.

yeah but if i keep dawnwalkers on, i'd be like 50 points over cap on hit, making them essentially...worthless :/

this is one of those FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK moments, because even if I redo my gear to make the most sense now, it'll all have to change again when 3.1 hits. Dammit

I don't think relative values will change TOO much, Crit will be a little more important maybe, and if ArP is made to not suck it'll be more useful, but most of our weights were and are based around AP since that's where all our dps boosters funnel from, so the individual weights might change a little but relative weights should remain about the same overall.

i'm suprised my marksmanship spec is doing as good as it is, it's substantially increasing my kill times, and i dont really rest... so..

edit: are gorilla's(bananadins) any good as pets?

Gorillas are pretty great for leveling, good health/armor and a near-spammable aoe for multi-mob aggro. The neat thing is come 3.1 any tenacity pet will have the thunderstomp (gorillas will get a pummel for pvp utility), so you can use a rhino/crab/bear/etc if you'd rather

Switch the three points you have in imp. arc shot and the two points from rapid killing to focused aim or careful aim (well at 80 I would, maybe for leveling this isn't so much a buff).

All in all, I prefer to level as BM. Your pets are tough as nails, keep hate from you, and it's less a dps race to kill things before they get to you. But if you feel really attached or dedicated to MM, I would take the 5 points out of Imp. Aspect of the hawk, and put them into MM. Or at least do so when you get another talent point to spend, since the 6th tier of MM has two nice talents, both of witch you will want to cap.

(and BM gorillas are awesome for AoE hunter grinding)

edit: i'm actually levelling faster this spec, but i may try the respec of bananadin aoe grinding. seems verrry intriguing
