I wanted to get it out of the way early for you, considering what went on last time.

Kill yourself? no. I wouldnt spend money on gears (not that money spent on cataclysm will last much longer since its outdated on an update basis), but if you enjoy raiding, do it for the achievement and progression, not gears. Being gear-ready for icc is really not that hard.
FFXI made me puke situational gear, I dont want to deal with this anymore. With the 30% bonus, it doesnt really matter what you equip. If your party is wiping, it's people who failled at a gimmick, not your hp or dmg mitigation.Oh and the my other trinkets are Skeleton Key/Jugg Vitality.
Putricide's trinket is good most of the time for the decent def bonus, and while stam is better against magic dmg, 300 more hp really won't make much of a difference.
This is a good write up, thanks. I guess I have to play around with it on other bosses before I can decide and see for myself what the uptime is on things like Rot/Fester/Putricide where its kind of iffy. What is SI?
I have to disagree, here's my example. The first time I tanked for this guild instead of DPSed was last week. My tank is in ToC 25 gear, with a small amount of 251 ICC. While doing Heroic Festergut last week we wiped three times (I've never seen this guild wipe to Festergut). The reason? I was taking too much damage too often due to inferior gear. This was of course at the 25% buff but the 30% buff wouldn't have saved me on those deaths seeing as how badly I got killed.FFXI made me puke situational gear, I dont want to deal with this anymore. Also the difference between unstacked organ and CSD 3588 health in ICC, which is quite a bit more than 300 HP.
SI is Survival Instincts, Last Stand for bears.
Also, Black Heart is still an amazing trinket, as the proc math on it almost guarantees you'll proc it as soon as you take the first hit off any tank switch, which is kind of nice for your healer transition to suddenly have an extra 6k armor.
The EH of the armor averaged out over the procs combined with the stamina generally puts it higher than a raw health trinket, too. But depending on your class you may want the extra oh shit button of something else, depending.
That was a typo (missed one 0), and I was talking magic heavy fight. For festergut, you're talking about 2000def vs 3000hp, and since you just said you're in toc gears, you would probably give your healer a better chance lowering the damage taken.
If the 30% bonus wouldn't save you, it's not the trinket that would make a difference. Every ilvl245+ trinkets are near equivalent for fights with lot of physical damage. You're looking at at ~2-3% damages reduction from armor, 2-3% dodge chances, or ~6% hp boost. Some proc less often obviously, but that's not what make or break a fight.
For magical damage fight, the only stats that matter is stam, but with the 30% buff, you have to be incredibly undergeared to not reach a level where your hp is safe. It's good to have stam/hp trinket for sindra, but I have yet to see a wipe where tank die first. It's the same deal for every others fight where "dodge" and "armor" are useless
Sure, the trinket alone wouldn't have saved me. But if I used multiple inferior pieces of gear because I didn't ask it would definitely make a huge difference. If the 30% bonus wouldn't save you, it's not the trinket that would make a difference. We generally do Sindragosa as 1 Tank + 1 Healer + 8 DPS. Its VERY hard to keep the tank alive under 30% for 1 healer. The tank is usually the first one to die, or at least the first one to get into trouble. For magical damage fight, the only stats that matter is stam, but with the 30% buff, you have to be incredibly undergeared to not reach a level where your hp is safe. So I started raiding hardcore, but man. Everyone tells me holy priests are pretty much the best healers out there, but I feel like I'm not doing as well as I should. For reference, I'm currently sitting on 5.1k GS, which I think is pretty decent.
Did ICC10 today, and it was such a long run simply because we wiped like 5 times. They weren't my fault, however I felt like I added to the problem with my lack of healing. The Resto druid put out like 8million heals once we hit Saurfang, whereas I only hit like 3million, with about 2.6~3k/healing per second (which is what my friend told me really matters).
As a holy priest, what can I do to better my healing?
If you're not tank healing on Saurfang with the 30% instance buff you'll never get high HPS without sickening amounts of overheal. Competent PUGs can push him to dead/nearly dead before the first mark.
The group itself was an abomination, but I still felt like I was lacking...
Why would you use a single tank for sindragossa if there is a risk of him dying? I understand you can kill it 50sec faster, but it sound retarded to zerg it in this scenario.
And secondly, the way items are itemized, the choice are usually mindless for tank. Trinkets are pretty much the only items that can completely useless in certains fights, but these fights usually revolve around gimmick and static damage in the first place.
Can't say I've even seen many holy priests around. I thought holy was severely lacking compared to disc in terms on what other healers can do as tank heals vs what disc can do as raid heals.
I changed from disc to holy when I first dinged 80 for better heals, since my GS wasn't good enough for heroics.
Haven't tried going back to disc yet.
Someone give me a half-decent server, horde or ally. PLEASE.
Remember me Zeh? Shattered Hand - US - Horde. If you're a solid raider I have inroads with the 3 top guilds on the server, though only one of them has heroic lich king down. If you're not thrilled with what you see on shattered hand you can always do what everyone else does and go to Mal'Ganis - Horde.
I can tell you Disc Priest is the shit, is amazing in a lot of fights in ICC, hope our disc priest guildy doesn't read this or his ego is going to skyrocket more >___>. We are planning to start doing H LK 10man attempts this week and going to use 2 healers (disc priest and holy pally).
But yea if you want switch to disc priest, run WOL since it shows total healing done including shields (which recount doesn't do).
How do I check to see if I have a keylogger?
For the achievement, also pugs seem to have an easier time with a short Phase 2 and we have to pug 2-3 DPS.
Not always true, there's a ton of Armor vs Stam/Dodge/Parry/Whatever choices in this raid content. Not to mention you could go into Enchants and Gems. No reason not to do everything as optimally as possible.
Also I got to try the trinket out some more, definitly stacks fast on Festergut especially when he has 3x Inhale, but I couldn't get it above 3 before it would fall on Rotface. Saurfang was also pretty good at keeping it stacked.
So my email was spammed with "Request for password reset" emails, and now blizz suspended my account for 24hours pending an investigation to see if my account is getting hacked. I checked with a guild (<3 Acanis) and they said I haven't logged on in 13hrs, so I don't think anything is wrong. This means someone has my bnet address and can keep doing this right?
Damage mitigation is damage mitigation. While you could min/max for a single fight, no tank is going to min/max all their gears for every fights because that's not possible, and it's pointless. Unless you're in the top guild trying to get a world first, why bother? You're not going to reduce the number of wipe by significant amount by picking a marginally better trinket. It just doesnt work this way.
Anyway, pretend it matters if you care, your guild is probably going to rollface the fight you wiped to next week, even with your undergeared toc gears.
