Thanks guys, I feel better reading your info. I'll do what I can to still get the T10 5 set gear at least (I really like the look, plus it's not all bad ) as my "cap". I'm looking into tanking now also to spend my remaining/spare triumphs (DPS stuff is more or less done)

There might be one or two slots that don't get replaced in the first day or two, but to advocate going hardcore into T10 just for an advantage in the start of cata is not really worth it.

There is no point farming thing for next expansion, but t10.5 is still better than most of the stuff we see at 73.

Let's play the rerolling game! Which class should I roll for cataclysm???

Currently we do 10mans with an IRL friend group, we are 8 strong and always have to recruit a caster and a 3rd healer. I played Hunter in vanilla and some of TBC, then tanked+healed BT/sunwell on a prot/holy pally. Played nothing but melee since, think I want out of melee.

Do I fill the last healer spot, or roll a caster? Choices are rdruid mage or I can play one of my other toons (rogue war dk hunter).

I honestly want to main one to have an actual main for once, and not play the others much at all until a while into cataclysm. Since I'm indecisive, help an ADD kid out lol. With the current cata changes, what looks the most fun to you guys? I arena a ton and have hit 2400 on rogue, so I will arena on it. rDruid looks OP as usual, but mage doesn't look far behind.

Personally I'm leveling a shaman (my toons are pala, druid, dk, hunter; 2 tank/healer) I suck balls as melee. As shaman you can fill the caster/healer spot as needed.

Hunter is looking fun but to level, since you get pet from the get go and loads of stables.

I only mentioned toons i'd potentially play that are already at 80, except mage I have to finish leveling it. My sister has a 75 shaman she wants to give me but I don't know... currently we have 2 shamans in our main raid, a hunter and me and another war... so the current tokens are 5/10 of us rolling on it lol. So basically trying to steer away from that.

I don't think I want to keep playing hunter. But with the buffs its getting it looks decent. Anything is better than melee at this point.

I like mage when you have the glyphed elemental, which is probably not the best dps but having an elemental out is cool XD

I'm considering leveling my paladin alt to 80 and doing a Ret/holy combo. More useful and a bit more fun to play than rogue, which is old hat at this point. Rogue is the eat choice, but you have to pick what you'll feel comfortable playing with 2 years in the long run.

If I come back for whatever reason for Cata, I'm definitely abandoning my pally and hunter and going shaman to 85. I loved playing my shaman, even switched it to my main in my old guild but had to go back to hunter when I switched servers since it had the best gear out of my 3 80s.

I'm torn. So I leveled my Paladin with the intention of tanking straight up... then during AV weekend, I decided to try Ret, and I can't get off it .

Now I also have a Warrior coming on up, and I definitely want at least one tank class. I was thinking, however, since I definitely prefer Paladin tanking to Warrior tanking so far, I'd wait 'til Cataclysm and make a Tauren Paladin.

My question is which is more efficient for raid tanking in your opinion, Warrior vs. Paladin?

Currently? Warrior is the better (best) tank for bosses in ICC. They have the second highest TPS (IT Spam being the highest, lul) and don't lack a shield like Druids and DKs. Paladin is pretty cool for AoE tanking but honestly blizzard didn't like that and now warriors can do it very well also (Not better, but good enough).

I miss BC when tanks had their places, Paladins for speed runs and AoE fights, Warriors for normal fights, Bears for.....well I don't really know what bears where used for in BC (I would assume high damage hits like Sarth+3 in WoTLK but I can't really think of any)

Edit: I remember we used two bears for the Illidan Elementals, think because of FR gear and defense caps and such, actually I don't know why.

You do know these are balanced around the very fact that they don't have a shield? It doesn't mean they have lower mitigation for it...

They may be balanced around the fact that they lack a shield but they still take significantly more damage than a Warrior/Paladin. I'm not so sure about bears (honestly its the hardest tanking class to find so it barely matters) but DKs get hit for a noticable amount more than their shield weilding counterparts. Even though Bears and DKs gain a Stam boost (and I guess a parry boost for DKs) it still means they are getting hit hard and requiring more healing.

Now that I think about it, you're right; all of our WOLs have the Warrior slightly behind me in damage taken, even on fights where we have to trade evenly (early days of saurfang, heroic gormok, etc).
