And frankly, I'd wait until after 4.0.3 is launched to get back into it. 4.0.1 is adding all the system changes, but 4.0.03 is the actual preparation patch that's changing the physical landscape of the game for Cataclysm. With that change will be a complete overhaul of the 1-58 leveling experience. If you're really set on it, that patch won't be for a few weeks yet still, and you could certainly jump in and start getting caught up on the new stuff, but since odds are you won't be at cap before 4.0.3 launches, you'll be in the middle of leveling and it'll throw you off pretty well.

To clarify, the current 1-58 will be much much different than post-4.0.3 1-58. An area that you'd level in at 55-58 might become 45ish zones, so while it might be good for you before the patch, it won't be after. I'm not entirely sure of what zones are for what levels, there's some pretty confusing changes for even veteran players.

Oh wow, what a bummer.. so it looks like servers go down in 4~hours for 12 hours? Anyway, I do appreciate the advice and input. I think I'll start up tomorrow when I get home from work, or maybe tonight for a few hours. When things change, I'll deal with that.

It's probably worth it to install tonight then let the updater run while you're at work, the patches I had to download were several gigs.

Are there any Rare Mob addons that won't get fucked when passing through a City?
Using NPC scan but every time I pass through Dalaran it gets filled with Hunter Pets and stops looking for them in their actual zones.

Would be nice to not have to constantly delete the mob Cache.

Posting this here since I don't think it deserves it's own thread. But here goes:

Is it too late to start playing WoW? I played for about a week several years ago, and did enjoy it, but was still heavily involved in FFXI and really didn't have time for it. I know the game has been out for years and years, and my question is basically, is it too late in the game to start? I know if you're an experienced player, you can start up a toon and get him going. But when you know where everything is, what to do, where to go, have ample cash, etc, it's a whole lot easier. But when it comes to WoW I am completely clueless, so I would have lots of learning to do. I know there is an expansion due out soon, but I really don't know jack shit about the game otherwise, as far as builds, whats what, etc. I want to play an MMO and FF14 is not going to be right for a while (if ever) so I'm looking for something to do. The F2P MMO's all seem to suck balls and just don't have the polish or depth that I do remember in WoW. What do you guys think?

I started playing in June and knew absolutely nothing about the game. Fast forward 4 months, and I know almost everything about both of my classes, along with raids I do the most. VoA is a joke, but I know all the fights in ICC10/25 along with ToC10/25, which are the only raids I do. Took me about 2-3 weeks to get 80 with refer-a-friend bonuses. Should have taken a lot less, but I played casually, and still do.

Point is, with Cataclysm coming out, its going to bring back a lot of players. I know all my friends have already pre-ordered and will be coming back when its released. If anything, I'd say now is the best time to pick the game up and start playing. Gold is easy as balls to make, and its pretty easy to level as well.

So, for hunters what are you leaning towards to being the best raid spec and which is the best pvp spec?

With all the changes and arp gone I'm not to sure. I always trying looking at elitist jerks but they are so mathy that it makes my head hurt.

obviously it something that I can just test for myself, but it'd be nice to have a starting point.

BM is best pvp i'd assume, and i'd think marks would still be best PVE

but these are just assumptions

If you do exclusively ten man, I'd at the very least keep BM as your offspec since the super pets all give different raid buffs like bloodlust. Right now any class any of the 3 specs could be more then viable. For the first time since I tanked with my rogue in TBC (not counting hat abuse), i'm actually going to spec sub to see how that goes

Just repeating what a few of people have said, but wait until cataclysm. I spent most of my Beta invite leveling though the zones (as oppossed to in the 80+ content), and the gameflow/talent changes/zone changes all make leveling much better than what it is now. Plus you will have any number or goblin/worgen to level with, whereas now old world is desserted.

Its just so hard to choose between Cauterize, Free scorch, Moving scorch, fire blast range, impact, and blazing speed.

I did hear that level 80 Mages don't have mana problems like 85 ones do so I tailored it away from free scorch and such.
