edit: answered first question I AM RETARDED
Also, now that I'm MM again (YAY), what do people think their haste should be at? Seems like steady shot has become a lot more important now (been a long time since I was MM though). So I'd imagine haste has become a very important stat for MM. Not sure where I should sit at though.
The Searing Pain nerf means Destro locks also Soul Burn their Soulfires. Affliction doesn't have much to use Soul Burn on outside of staying alive through high-damage AOE with a 1.0 second Drain Life. Still trying to find better uses for it as Affliction besides being able to summon Doomguards/Infernals outside of the last 45 seconds of a fight.
Doomguard is instant cast anyway, and Drain Life unless I'm much mistaken is a higher DPCT than Shadow Bolt when Shadow Burn effect is up because its channel is shorter than GCD, also has chance to proc instant shadow bolt, but yeah best use is obviously during heavy damage taking sequences
Edit: I got bored so here's a picture of my excel, I can post the file if you want to look at formulas, but they're pretty simple ones (base damage * 1.crit% * hit %, cast time * haste, modified by soulburn column, damage / cast time)

Edit2: Ticks is because it was complaining about inconsistent formula if I just multiplied damage by 3 for drain life
Edit3: Second Shadow Bolt is with 3/3 Bane instead of 2/3 Bane for higher pDPS versus consistent application of crit debuff for execute phase.
I meant you can summon a DG/Infernal midfight now and SB -> Summon back your pet instantly. Just another utility lever for PvP or encounters where you need a stun but don't want to respec into Shadowfury. Not an Affliction-specific advantage, but I hate ending fights with 3 soul shards.
DG and infernal are guardians not pets now...
oh
well that settles that, then
Been warrior tank main for pretty much forever, up until just this past summer... Changed to fury main because we had an opportunity to recruit a good tank main, and quite frankly I was a bit tired of being tank for everything every raid (10s and 25s) every week! Plus, fury DPS was pretty OP!
So I'm fury main now, but still tank occasionally as my off-spec.
Also leveled DK a while ago, and used to have DK tank as my main for quite a while when they were OP as shit in Ulduar. Did DPS as a main for 10s for a bit on that too! Haven't touched it in a long time now though.
Also raided and PvP'd quite a bit on Resto Druid, Bear, and Holy Pally during different stretches. Mostly just play warrior now.
Does anyone know how the talent "early frost" works? The tooltip says that it reduces the cast time by a certain time, however, it also states that "this effect becomes inactive 15 seconds after use". However I don't see the spell in my book (i'm assuming its an ability since it says "after use") Anybody know anything about this?
I believe it reduces your frostbolt cast time inherently by x seconds, then after you cast frostbolt, the talent gets an internal cooldown, so your subsequent frostbolts will be of normal cast time until 15 seconds has passed since first one was cast
I hope that doesn't mean it only works on one frostbolt every 15 seconds ... lol
That is what it means but don't underestimate it. You can snare runners so easily (I got my Frostbolt down to like .7 seconds with just IV and Berserking). It is kind of like how good players would use Rank 1 Frostbolt to snare even though it did shit for damage, now you can use max rank Frostbolt to snare and hit for ridiculous numbers at the same time.
Isn't that what I just said? <_<
Edit: ^, didn't see new page, was responding to Cooka's post
Does Buttonfacade work for anyone? I got the 4.0.1 release version, but it still says its out of date. I hate the default bartender icons.
The general consensus is mainly for soulfires while on the move for afflic, but it's more of a utility thing for afflic than dps. Need health? DL. On the move? SF/Teleport. Pet dead? Resummon, etc. At least now it's agony for afflic instead of doom.
With the recent hotfixes, it's all about SB spam once dots are in place. Personally, I'm mainly destruction right now. My warlock is only 5200gs so he isn't too geared, so I was destro before the patch so I'm used to it's rotation and I like it's play style with the changes and god it does alot of damage... getting 8k on the dummy consistently for 4+ minutes is great, as well as putting my lock pretty high on meters in voa's. With the SP, DS, and DL nerfs I'll probably move my offspec to demo instead of afflic. After watching videos of demo in beta instances I thought that would be my spec anyway, but currently it's pretty annoying for me to get used to.
Are prot warriors gemming into stam now? Before the patch I had a ton of +def gems since I wasn't def capped, but since defense is gone now... They all turned into dodge. I also forged whatever dodge I had into mastery on each piece.
Yep, still gemming stamina as first priority.
So now that Hunters don't need to use Ammo anymore, what is making up for the lost damage over time from ammunition?
It's baked into the weapon I believe.
