DW frost is like 1% behind unholy in single target, and miles and miles ahead in aoe. No comparison in heroics, frost is vastly superior.
Resistance basically doesn't provide any chance to "resist" actual damage attacks anymore, it's purely damage reduction. It does improve chance to resist stuff like death grip, poly, etc.
As for pvp gear... because of the fact that everyone's best stat is a base stat now, and by no small amount, the increased str/agi/int makes them *BIG* upgrades over 333 blues, let alone greens and shit. As far as 346 blues, pvp should start to fall a little behind, but not by all that much. (especially if you're looking at set pieces where you gain a total of 250 of your base stat by wearing 4 piece)
The 2 hand pvp weapons are kind of meh due to speeds, as it's pretty damn easy to get a 3.8 blue.
Frost has uses in the form of Chillblains and kiting but Unholy is much farther than 1% above Frost for pure single target normal heroic boss DPS.DW frost is like 1% behind unholy in single target, and miles and miles ahead in aoe. No comparison in heroics, frost is vastly superior.
About to hit 70 on my prot paladin and I'm leaning towards a bit more of pvp. I've gemmed my gear for stamina/str but I'm curious if 70+ resilience will be worth more than stamina?
anyone know if there's a "cap" before diminishing returns at 70? going to blow all my honor on the level 70 stuff, would be nice to know if i can still gem the same or go for more resilience.
It really is about 1-2%, in raids where there's more movement involved the gap is wider due to frost having shit disease dmg, but in raw straight up sim dmg the difference is very, very small.
There's no DR on resil.
Prot pally pvp through 80 needs very little resil, though. Just stack str and smash shit.
I was mostly wondering if it was linear or if there is diminishing return after a certain point. Tol Barad resistance trinket look awesome in theory, but I wanted to be sure I understood how it works before getting scammed.
400 resists, combined with the aura and divine protection pretty much make you immune to any elemental damages for 10sec every minute. It's situational to a few fight obviously, but it still kinda overpower to to survive a big attack.
[edit]
I guess the resist doesnt stack since it's a buff and not gears resist, but it still is pretty strong to get a 70% damage mitgation every minute..
I would also support strength over resil for Prot PvP. Resil is still a very good stat to have, but as prot you'll have issues killing some people and you'll want that strength. As well, strength is our spellpower so it increases your WoG heals too.
TGN did an analysis of Argaloth (closest fight you can get to patchwerk) top 50 of every spec and Frosts average DPS is 2500~ lower than Unholys from their sample. It really is about 1-2%, in raids where there's more movement involved the gap is wider due to frost having shit disease dmg, but in raw straight up sim dmg the difference is very, very small.
Even EJ while it says Unholy and Frost sim at 1.5% difference, in practice its more like a 10% difference.
Argaloth is a perfect example of a fight where the diseases and pet when you move are a significant difference...
Argaloth has the least movement of basically any fight in Cataclysm, the fact is while frost may sim close to unholy in practice it isn't. Especially considering where this whole thing stemmed from, which was players in heroics which I doubt are playing completely optimally and such. This isn't some vendetta against Frost, I actually support Frost DK raiding for improved AoE and snare ability, it's just what the game is at right now.
Priest 80-84 instancing, which is the less stressful healing spec, Disc or Holy? I just wanna grind out my rested exp and get the santa hat for the merrymaker achievement.
if you need the hat, I highly recommend getting an 85 friend and going to Oculus Heroic and go to the 2nd to the last boss, the mage/wizard guy, who will drop a hat 100%.
Might need a quick answer on this.
I can build a Volcanic deck for 16k from buying all the cards right now. The deck is on the AH for 25k but I haven't seen any sell in 24hours. I want to buy the cards and resell the deck for money.
Faire is tomorrow, are cards going to drop in price or raise in price with more people needing them this week. Same for decks. I'm sure I can make at least 4k off a deck cause for 20k it's almost a guaranteed sell. Should I grab the cards for 16k now?
There are 4 decks on the AH right now, I'd probably have to sell through trade.
I figured I'd post here since it only happens when I open wow. It's very random but my num lock turns itself off whenever I open/close wow and only wow. Does this happen with anyone else? I'm using a newer G15.
You don't seem to be grasping what I'm getting at.
In heroics, there is very little meaningful movement at this point. For the most part, if the bosses move, melee are moving with them.
Further, heroics are aoe'able easily now.
Point being, yes, in raids, unholy is going to pull ahead, and by a considerable amount when movement is involved. On most heroic bosses, where melee aren't really moving much if at all, the difference is negligible. Factor in the huge improvement in aoe capability, and it's simply not even close, frost is far better for heroics.
Now that I'm getting better gear, I seem to be having the least mana trouble in raids as Resto Shaman, I often hear h.priest and pala healers calling out for my mana tide totem when I'm still sitting at 90%~ mana. Please tell me this is a sign to change from spi/crit build to either spi/haste or haste/crit? I miss my 1s Surges![]()
I have given up on haste. I reforge it 1 for 1 to spirit. I need spirit, I covet crit over haste; ;Please tell me this is a sign to change from spi/crit build to either spi/haste or haste/crit? I miss my 1s Surges
I've been looking around and every site says differently, even tank spot (I think it was tankspot) said to take mastery over crit, so I just reforged to haste and hope it works out for the best since I hate relying on the RNG, at least I managed to get 9 ticks of riptide per cast and 6 earthliving now. Probably a bad idea to change my gear the day before the guild does Cho'gall/Nef for the first time, but w/e.
