It's worthless for raids.

I'll be testing out a telluric currents build for next weeks raids but I don't even go oom so I don't see the point. Myself and the other main resto in my guild have looked over their logs and the shaman do absolutely horrid healing and all they do is pseudo DPS and plop down a healing rain while the priests/paladins heal everything. Major raid stacking, etc.
Yeah, i just changed my enh spec to a TC/precision build, and I must say it was amazing in raids. The loss of ghost wolf/movement speed doesn't seem too bad. I'm not too sure my spec is right at the moment since I lost some tank healing skills, (like earth shield talents) but I guess that's what dual spec exists for.

Saxon: Elemental Precision is not a talent that should be taken for Enh beyond MAYBE one point, and that is arguable. It's a very mediocre DPS increase given your other available options. Do NOT underestimate the +15% movement speed and insta ghost wolf, it's very very very beneficial for top end raiding content.

If you'd like me to take a look at your spec, lemme know.

Yeah, I'm with Tonko. Imp GW is by far one of the best secondary talents you can have for everything. It's a life saver, especially as Enh. Moving from mob to mob, etc.

I mean I replaced my enhancement spec for a different resto spec so that I can swap between the 2 in raids w/o having to respec for every boss, one that utilities TC and Elemental Precision whilst the other has ghost wolf/15% movement speed & improved shields for tank healing, I had to remove my talents from the enh tree to get elemental precision for resto (also nice for wind shear) so I lost the ghost wolf in resto spec, which I really adore in certain fights where movement is key (Council, Magmaw, Atra).

I'm not too serious about my enh, only use it for dailies and soloing. But I understand the necessity of imp. GW for an enh spec. In fact, I think I removed imp. fire nova and put the points in Elemental precision/reveration, but I will never raid seriously as enh.

Movement speed is required for everything. See also: Herald's Gaiters.

It's especially useful for healing: less time moving is more time casting is less required HPS is better mana efficiency is less required spirit is more itemization spent on crit, haste, and spellpower. BAM!

Can you replace this talent with a weapon enchantment, or the dps loss is bigger?

Anyway, I agree with movement speed being above everything in raid. You won't wipe 20 times to a boss because you're dealing 0.4% less dps, it's gimmick that kill people, and these gimmicks almost always involve movement.

Not to mention that reaching the monster faster mean more time to dps

I understand that, and is why I was so reluctant to get this spec, but the mana regain is better and more burst healing. I'm going to get a 2nd pair of boots and enchant it with movement speed. When I absolutely have to move, I can always pop spirit walker.

Here are my specs anyway: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/characte...talent/primary

15% movement speed is always better, and instant GW is downright amazing.

It is amazing, but if you anticipate each fight and play it intelligently, the movement speed will not make a difference between a win and a wipe. Whereas the extra mana from TC, and my ability to lay healing rain and spam CH every shadow phase on Cho'gall, and the fact I have only 3% miss for interrupts and LB compared to the 17% miss chance w/o elemental precision could change how the fight is going to play out. In my gw spec w/o TC I was finding myself completely oom in p2 on cho'gall, whereas with elemental precision gave me more mana regen to spam in the vital burn phase. Sure I could respec my main spec slightly to gain the burst healing from shock and TC whilst keeping ghost wolf, but having 17% miss chance could result in a mana loss or vital interrupt miss. The fact is, although I haven't used the TC build much yet, I have both of them set up ready to swap between depending on the fight.
So go ahead and tell me I'm wrong, but I'd rather be prepared when the 2k dps and extra mana and more burst raid heals would be more beneficial than simply moving faster when all these Pve fights are scripted so you should have a general idea of what is going to happen and react accordingly.

Edit: I think I should mention that this is in 10man raids and not 25man.

Predictable. And it's only a 7% speed boost, since you would get a minor speed enchant on boots instead.

7% movement alone is worth it. But in addition to that, you get to enchant 50 haste opposed to 25 Agi, 30 Stam, or 35 mastery. Correct me if I'm wrong, but mastery is pretty trash for rshaman.

    Yes mastery is trash.
But once the World of Logs guy uploads todays Cho'gall, I can give some numbers to compare my mana regen between the 2 specs. But it won't really show smart heals.
I'm not even 100% sure myself about it, which is why I asked in the first place, but your argument just doesn't sway me either way (except as I already stated on certain fights where movement is a huge part of the fight, in which I agree).

Telluric Currents build is for people who will need the mana on intense rigorous and long fights where you don't have many sources of mana. Yes, GW is worth speccing into BUT if you're in need of the mana on certain fights it is beneficial to swap between two different resto specs. I'm toying with that this week when our raid resets.

Aurik, sorry but just stating movement speed is better isn't really a valid argument. Sure, it's great on some fights but not every fight requires insta GW. Infact, I'd rather not use GW when I'm in a raid because it wastes a GCD. The only times I ever pop it is if I'm targetted by something that either needs to be dragged out/away or I need to kite. I keep it on one resto spec because I know that I'll probably use it on some fights but I haven't really had to after learning the mechanics.

Editted for Saxon: You're in 10man? Then it's probably better to use TC. You wouldn't have the opportunity to benefit from two tides in one group or other healer cooldowns.

But what do I know? I do 'easier than 10man' 25mans.

Yeah I do 10man exclusively, so on the longer fights I find myself and other healers running oom, and I can't even wait for my trinket to proc for manatide since I have the CD macro'd to party chat so the other healers expect me to use it on CD.
If you looked at my TC spec, do you think that I should change some points around, like keep 3 points in Focused insight for more powerful burst heal, or get Natures' Blessing. If I keep focused insight should I replace earth shield glyph with ELW? I keep seeing around that ELW is amazing, but my earthliving only does around 5% of my healing. I wish I could test all of this out myself, but the only boss we can do until wednesday is Nef, in which I find the GW spec better since it's better tank healing (since you need 2 dedicated tank healers in 10man).

Also, are 25mans really easier? I just assumed it needed a different style of play.

If ffxi should have taught you anything, it's that anytime movement speed matters it is the best stat you can have, period.

Nah, 25s aren't easier at all. I was just being a jackass.

This isn't FFXI. The fight mechanics are more complex than tank n spank or kiting.
It's effectively a trade off, bit of movement speed for negligible dps & sustained mana to keep the fight going and heal when it's needed the most whilst regening when it's not. Sure that movement speed may save you, but so will having mana.

Thought so, just wanted to make sure lol.
I can't heal 25mans, I just don't have the ability to keep track of everything, and I have literally no experience with 25m raids anyway.

I've done most of the nonheroic fights now on both 25 and 10 and 10 feels much more strict. On 25 you can outright let morans die, 10 you can't even afford to bring morans. Obviously I haven't stepped into any heroic fights yet, just got Cho'gall this week and we haven't put in serious attempts on Al'Akir or Nef yet.

Also movement speed is still best unless you have a fight where you can be very, very stationary. You should be spending almost 100% of your time (cancel)casting, and as far as I know shaman, like other healers, needs to be stationary to cast the filler heal. Obviously you don't cast GW every time you need to move, but if you need to reposition and your instant heals aren't up or aren't appropriate, you should generally be using it.

If you're running out of mana in non-heroics, it's probably because your raid is taking excessive damage, your other healers aren't pulling their weight, or you aren't taking enough advantage on your most efficient heals.
