Cata is so much more about the DPS than it is the healers.
Cata is so much more about the DPS than it is the healers.
If there are random wipes on farm content, then dark intent isn't going to change that. The faster the kills the better.
Looking back, every boss we've gotten stuck on hasn't been a healing problem. We had an enrage timer on maloriak problem, but that was probably due to bad remedy removal - and everything else was wiping due to people taking too much damage. Sure, DI means a healer may heal that damage slightly better, but having people move out of shit faster and not get hit by it in the first place made the more significant difference.
One way or the other, I don't think DI really makes much of a difference in either circumstance. It's not going to save your group or kill a boss much faster at all. 6k added raid dps is nice, and if it's on farm, I would prefer the boss dying faster.
That tiny bit of healing isn't going to make the difference either, you dumb.
All it has to do is save 1 dps 1 time and you've saved more time than 2-3 months farming the boss with the buff on a dps. All it has to do is save 1 wipe 1 time and you've saved more time than you'll spend on the boss ever.
You dumb.
It's not going to do that, so stop being stupid.
Actually, it can, will, and does. You dumb.
Exactly, this is the single biggest change that Cata brought. In Wrath, healers in essence had unlimited mana pools which forced Blizzard to tune bosses to instagib or wipe raids immediately if people fucked up, otherwise you could just heal through all the damage. With limited mana you have to be efficient as well as quick.
Obviously if DPS is your weakest link then yes, faster DPS is more important. But all things being equal, saying DPS is more important than healers in Cata is wrong IMO.
Actually it wont, can't, and doesn't. Stop being stupid and get over it already. If your dps are going to be stupid, stand in something they shouldn't, and die, you aren't going to save them.
This isn't going anywhere, our definition of random wipes must be different or something.
Generally not on farm content.
Same deal with healer, that's the whole fucking point of farm content.
Shit still happens on farm content. 1 second faster dps isn't going to mean squat compared to saving someone. Ask yourself, how many times have you wiped at <2% on farm content.
it happens to us all the fucking time and its pretty frustrating lol
That's retarded, healer arent the only one who can make the difference between a wipe and a success. If adds dies faster, if the "rage" phase end earlier, if the fight end earlier, dps might have made a difference.
Wipe happens when people fail at the gimmick usually, and when people fail at the gimmick, it's not the tiny healing increase that would have made the difference, or at least, not significantly more than the dps increase.
Except that when shit hit the fan on farm status, beating the enrage timer isn't always trivial...
Last night, we enraged Magmaw after losing 2 dps very early (first one got insta gibbed on the pull, the second dc'd). Healing was never the issue, and dps ended up making the difference for that kill. That shit is situational for both dps and healers, especially on farm status.
And pay close attention to the death in your next "farm" raid to figure out the number of time 9% more heal from one healer would have made the difference. It's not as common as you think.
