This is like the /NIN vs /SAM in meripo argument in FFXI, "/NIN helps the healer" "but /SAM helps you kill faster so the healer doesn't have to do as much" repeat forever and ever and ever.
Basically what I'm reading right now.
People arguing for the sake of arguing - does farm content really need to be discussed so much? Prob don't even need to flask/pot for farm content. But when pushing new content/heroic bosses? They're all DPS checks. If people are standing in fire, DI isnt going to save their ass by having it on a healer. If a healer dies, 9% more dot damage isnt going to compensate for the loss of healing. Pretty sure at this point I could do jumping jacks, pick my nose, jump into magma and still have my raid kill magmaw - this isn't what ideal buff situations are used for. You could throw DI on a paladin for crap like that and it won't matter.
Pushing new content, most bosses have either a tight enrage or some sort of burn phase that extra dps matters a lot more for than extra healing. Directly from the healers in my guild - they claim that a boss dead faster means they can burn more mana to compensate for increased healing needed and solving mana issues. Burning through a shield in conclave, chimaeron's mortality phase, maloriaks 9 dps add burn phase/vile swills. Look at the sinestra kill videos - it's on a boomkin.
These are all "enrages" of some kind, hence the original hedge: if you need the dps boost, put it on a dps. Otherwise, put it on the healer. Obviously for farm content you shouldn't need the dps boost (otherwise it's not exactly 'farm'), so put it on the healer. A boss dead 2-3 seconds faster doesn't really change anything.
Unfortunately for some, their internal measure of self-worth is tied to their performance in a video game, which is why they play easily-measured dps classes and then demand kid-glove treatment so they can crow about how much dps they did that time on the farm content boss that nobody else gives any fuck about. Don't be this guy.
ITT: MY OPINION IS BETTER THAN YOUR OPINION.
Especially on things that aren't even really capable of being truly tested.
How is it related?
Aurik is saying that healers should be the only one getting the buff, I'm saying it doesn't matter or barely does on farm content (shit is situational at best).
If 3% more healing would translate to 3% less death, it would be better almost all the time, but that's not what happen. That's not how people dies, or at least, not in my raid. This is the reason why I don't think a dps boost or healing boost is going to make a significant difference on fluke wipe, and this is why I disagree with Aurik who is exagerating the difference between both.
Anyone have trouble with Halfus this week?
We have the 100%atk speed, mortal strike, and shadow thing dragon's up.
However though, it keeps on giving out the damage from the fire dragon, or w/e.
Is this just a glitch or what?
Accidentally have it on heroic?
What we did this week is Storm Rider+Nether scion at the same time (shadow nova+frenzied assault) , followed by bloodlust zerg. We never engaged Slate Drake.
Basically, 2 melee dps stayed on the boss the whole time and alternated interupt. Tank swapped every 7-8 stacks I believe (I used divine shield on paladin to reset mine once to last longer). Once Nether scion died, the rest of the fight was a joke. The only challenge was to heal the tank who was tanking both dragon with 7-8 stacks, but that wasnt too bad either with cooldown.
[edit]
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "fire dragon keep giving out the damages"? Are you talking about the mortal strike debuff? If so, that's normal, tanks have to swap the whole times when Slate Drake is up. If you mean the other inactive dragon were doing something...then idk.
What do you think first purchase for unholy DK with valor points should be? I don't have a solid raid group so I don't really get many valor points in a week. Should I get the smaller amount things first so I can get more upgrades or is tier way more important?
That's what I also wonder too Tricen
I'm all for looking sexy personally so I'd get the body personally, but I've not made a move yet. I'm sitting on 3200~ at the moment, since I know if i buy leg/feet it'll drop in TB10/25
Otherwise, I'm not sure how long until the next patch is, but if it's all going to be bumped down a tier and all our VP is reset and stuff is buyable with JP, I think grabbing the accessories would be better maybe? But (normal mode) raids are doable in 346 blues, 4 of the veterans (whom have crafted/rep purples, and some drops from raids) in my guild kept yelling at me to buy the VP Boots and sell them to people for 20k gold or something. So up to you really.
Hmmm. I don't think the next tier will be out any time soon. But you never know, the content has been cleared already, which is pretty fast imo. They might push one out soon, but wouldn't there be a PTR of it?
EDIT: Well, since I am not currently raiding hardcore, I was thinking trinket+relic would be pretty ideal.
Blizzard doesn't give two shits about appeasing the top guild(s) with new content right away. They took 6 months to get 3.1 out when the only difficult fight at all was OS3D.
Well now that the content has been cleared they are good to start gently nerfing it!
This part is certainly true. And considering my first attempt at a raid (not counting BH) with at least a half decent group resulted in many wipes with only 1-2 attempts killing a single one of the dragons on Halfus, I can't say I'd mind it a bit. But hopefully I can just get a better raid group together, heh.
I can't really answer your question, but if you go for tier gears, start with the body. Buying legs/hands will make that items drop in Baradin Hold every weeks after your purchase.
If you're not raiding, just go for sex appeal. Your tier gears can't be that bad, and it's more fun to change your armor than a relic.
Idk about DK, but for Enh shaman a 346 totem is more dps in the perfect setup than the 359 totem.
If it is a flat upgrade then I would get relic first since it's the only piece that you will never replace with raid gear.
Leveling my 39 twink hunter (which I havent touched since they broke twinking). What are good leveling trees for hunter now? BM will be one, but is SV or MM better for the other? I will mostly be leveling in instances and BG's, probably doing very little questing.
