However, everything else about WoW is perfectly normal. There is no other graphic artifacts or glitches from what I can tell so far. Is this problem because I am still using the trial version of WoW (10 day trial), although I let it download ALL the patches and data before I started playing?

I thought this was pertinent to put into the Random Question thread because I didn't want to make a whole new thread just for this problem.. and I can't put it on Blizz forums because I don't have a 'real' account.

    Thanks in advance, BG!

I had this when I came back 2 months ago. It's something with your files not correctly updating to Cata. Although mine I had multiple green models. Some quest NPCs I had to kill, the wind riders in the stables in Org.

A friend found a fix for it and took me through it step by step, but I can't remember off hand. Lemme see if I can refresh my memory by poking around in the WoW folder...

In your C(D)://wherever/WoW Folder go to the WTF folder. Open the "Launcher" file. Where it says "SET account Type 'XX' " you want it to say CT for Cataclysm. Mine I believe was BC yet, or LC, I forget. Once I changed that and saved the file, opening up the WoW launcher prompted an update which fixed all the green models I had in game.

Pretty sure that's all I had to do, so best of luck.

Misses/parries etc. really fuck with dk, the problem is the raw quantity of stats you give up to eliminate them is just nuts.
It would be around 1700 secondary stats, which is at the current gears level 16-17% avoidance (if my memory is right). However, once mastery+dodge+block is capped at 102%, the benefit from additional mitigation will diminish considerably up to a point where I think the additional holy power and threat stability could benefit nearly as much.

It's never a problem on a single target fight that last a while, but I can't be the only one who has issue in the first 10 seconds when avenger shield miss, or when you have to claim multiples adds quickly (ie: maloriak). Is it a big issue? No. But it's still something I would like to get ride of.

Gonna start leveling a new toon with a friend, who has already chosen to create a druid. What would be a good complementary class to druid? He's planning to go heals/dps with it.

I was thinking of making another priest but I'm not sure how well that would play with drood. Thoughts?

I kind of doubt that Blizzard will allow the 102.4% cap to be obtained easily, it gives block tanks an incredible advantage. They'd either have to attempt to tune bosses to hit harder (thus screwing druids and DKs) or nerf warriors and paladins to make blocking somehow less effective at mitigating damage. Either way, someone loses.

It's also hard to see hit/exp becoming worthwhile at all unless there's a major vengeance nerf.

Level a tank, you get insta queue, and you're pretty much invincible the whole way to 85.

Hrmmm ... well that's something to ponder then. Lol.

Yeah figured that was the motivation behind those three classes Kaylia. I'm not sure how good I'd be at tanking but might be fun to try. How forgiving is this game for "brand new never tanked anything ever" tanks? (Well, tanked a bit in XI, I did level blasted NIN to 37.)

It's not always tank either. If you PvP much, having some heals (and roots on your target) makes warriors very powerful. Ret or Prot works just fine with any spec druid because both people can take care of themselves and help the other out a bit. And druid is mostly as a "to tank" thing, but double cats can wreck things too.

Make sure your gears doesnt overlap with your friend..Its obviously not too bad, but can be annoying at time (if you're considering druid x2)

Tanking isnt hard, and it gives you a good opportunity to learn the game from a different perspectice. If anything, the hardest part is dealing with people since you will be leading most pugs, but if its just leveling, it's a joke anyway.

Yeah I think I'm more worried about the "leading" part as I haven't been playing this game forever and a century like a lot of people and I don't know every instance in the game. But I think we're straight up questing through our levels except maybe a few random dungeons so it shouldn't be all that bad.

Most dungeons have maps now which makes them way less painful to lead when you go back for the first time in years. Also, everything is op at low levels, I can do like 2k dps on big packs as a 60 warrior lol.

    Leading is simple

    #1 Figure out next pull
    #2 Check healer mana
    #3 Charge in anyway.
#4 Spam aoe, and cycle through target target (if needed)

Thing are a joke before lv 85 now, it's almost impossible to do it wrong.

    Lol.

Yeah I guess I don't have to worry about stuff at lower levels, most of the time I join an instance I've never done and no one says anything, we just pewpewpew stuff and move on. The only ones I've had trouble with were BC dungeons on my DK because some of those mechanics can be a bit more tricky but still mostly faceroll. Which won't be an issue right away obviously, so maybe by that time I'll feel a bit more comfortable in the role.

Any specific addons I should get for tanking purposes?

I had a healer in ramparts on my war that kept telling me to pull more early on, so I pulled like 25 mobs and we killed them np, and then the healer left >.>

Building a good tanking UI is an art, but it doesnt really matter before raiding. It's still a good idea to gather all the information you can get (including actions bar) at the same place to reduce eyes movement as much as possible (it sound weird, but in raid, you can't afford wasting a millisecond trying to find something on your screen, you need to see everything with a single quick glance).

Anyway, what you want to see in your UI
-Your debuff (and buff to a lesser extent), your target's buff, and the offtank's debuff (doesnt matter before raiding, and /focus do the works).
-A raid UI that show who has aggro, hp, and preferably debuff (grid is the best one at this imo)
-Casting bar for monsters since you will be interupting

    For starter

-Tidy plate: Targeting overlapping monsters is nearly impossible, and nameplate facilitate this considerably since it's much easier to click. However, the biggest advantage of tidyplate is that you can easily what you're tanking, and which monsters roam free (red = you're tanking it just fine, green=press your button harder).
    http://img715.imageshack.us/i/nameplatel.jpg/

-Grid+clique: Easy to customize, extremely clean, let you see who has aggro (red dot), let you see everyone debuff with another addon (important for certain mechanics)
    http://img593.imageshack.us/i/gridf.jpg/
If you're a paladin, something like this is absolutely needed. You need it for righteous defense (taunt 3 monsters off the targeted playes), and you can use the UI to heal people. Default UI could replace grid , but it's not as clean imo.

Most healers are princess, I've seen thing like this too often.

My favorite are the one that ask me to slow down, but don't drink in between fight (or takes 20 seconds to)

Obviously omen to get an idea of threat and if anyone is riding too hard. I also like tidy plates:threat plates for AOE pulls, the mob health plate will change colors as you're losing threat on it and makes it a lot easier to pick stuff up or show you that DPS are attacking the wrong target.

I would personally skip omen simply because you rarely get useful information out of it. There is a few boss mechanics where threat table help, but most of the time, it doen't s matter since you will want to produce as much threat as you possible.

It's important to know who between you and the off tank has aggro though, but that's something you should see somewhere else in your ui imo..
