what is vp? sorry I haven't played in a whilelol
VP are the points you accumulate when you kill raid bosses, or do your first 7 random heroics/troll heroics. With 4.2 they're all getting converted down to JP (points accumulated by running random heroic 5-mans) which caps at 4000.
ah ok, yea my gear rating is still low like 324 so I need more to start doing heroics
Or buy a couple pvp pices and some BoE ZG (353) epics and hax your way into heroics, its what everyone does, and its usually not bad unless you cant do more than 9k dps
So what's the general consensus on dual-wielding as a death knight while leveling? I looked around a number of places and most of the info seems outdated.
dw if your frost and specced into the talents for it, dont if your any other type of DK.
HM chimaeron is kicking our ass. he keeps just eating our tanks alive, especially switching our tanks during feud. You guys have any tips on how you got past this? Specifically anything different you guys do beyond what wowhead mentions and whatnot?
We use a DPS tank during nonfeuds, one RJ + incidental healing is enough to keep him alive. At feud: all healers heal the MT first (I pre-wind so I land HT + SM as fast as possible), and then clump up. On double-attack, OT taunts and uses a CD and rides out until the end of the feud.
Easy way to do HM Chim with 2 tanks:
Tank A tanks normal hits outside of feud
Tank B tanks all double attacks
As soon as feud starts, Tank B taunts Chim, eats one break and the double attack. A cooldown will usually be needed here, DKs are the best for this since they can pop Bone Shield for every one. If you still have trouble with this part, bring a hunter with a bear pet and intervene him as soon as chim gets the double attack buff. The bear will die, but your tanks will not, the hunter can rez his bear and do this every feud.
As soon as the feud Double Attack goes off, Tank A taunts, and will need a cooldown so he isn't one shotted here. After one melee hit, feud will end, and you rinse and repeat.
If you're having problems with tanks dying too fast in phase 3, make sure that they're getting topped off properly first, and hope for a bit of luck (or use more DKs).
Hunter question: So 10.52% Haste (something about there) is considered the 2nd haste tier and the highest tier Hunters can reach atm w/ gear as is. After 10.52%, haste value just doesn't give as much of a benefit. But... There is so much haste on mail.. so is haste after that point a bad/good thing? Or should I just start reforging haste after I reach that base platau?
There isn't a point to keep stacking it until you can get to the next tier. Just reforge out until you can.
Tiers are based on your total haste after gear, buffs, talents, etc. Example from mage since I know them better than Hunters. Fire mage wants 12.5% haste to get an extra tick from dots. 5% raid buff + 3% talent + 4.5% haste from gear gets you that tier. When factoring in talents and such, only count things that are always up. Don't take into account things like Landslide enchants, or talents that grant haste under certain conditions that aren't always met. That stuff is just bonus.
EDIT: Before someone jumps in, I know that haste is actually strong enough for Fire mage that they don't usually stop just at tiers. Just throwing it out as an example of a tier and how to get there.
I can't for the life of me find where the shoulder/head tier tokens drop for this tier. anyone find em yet?
I'd like to go and try the healer role. In your opinion, which class should be considered the more accessible one, as well as which one should be avoided because of heavy add-ons requirements/more difficult to grasp mechanics?
I'd be inclined to try Druid or Shaman.
Shaman is probably less difficult to play at a reasonable level. Druid involves copious HoT juggling.
If you want to lead the group and control the pace, go tank. If you want to have a huge influence over the outcome of the fight, healer or tank . If you want to enjoy the ride and get less pressure, go dps (still a lot of works to perform well, but you can be mediocre and get away with it).
As for add-on, it really depends of the spec and class you choose. However, don't let that be a turn off, because it's generally easy to setup.
If you are a smart players, you will be able to play every class just fine. Some are slightly more complex than other, but it's never rocket science (especially not with the quantity of informations on the net). Just go for the roles that suit you the best, and the type of gameplay you think you will enjoy.
I like paladin and druid the most because they can be everything (and I always prefered playing a single character), but w/e works really.
Since now I've really enjoyed tanking, mostly on Pally/DK. As you said, it really makes you feel important etc etc.
Now I'd like a chance of pace, as well as a ranged class. I'm not really a fan of hunters or locks so I was thinking about going the healer way and see if that's enjoyable.
Still, i dont want to stumble of a too comples to handle healing class, so anything that can be played a little "ezmode" would be perfect.
