I kind of feel that way too sometimes but what I noticed at least with the guide I follow as Horde is it skips a lot of the more annoying quests that take longer to do than they are worth, and tries to keep you for the most part doing quests that are very easy to complete at your level and not too near areas where you're likely to be PKed. If you actually read the quest logs most of the time it probably doesn't make as much of a difference but if you're lazy like me and sometimes you suddenly find 5 mobs spawned on top of you or ran 10 minutes to get to a waypoint in the wrong zone etc... it saves a lot of time compared to if you did it in your own order without skipping certain quests and zones... oops I had this thread open for a while I guess<_<

Jame's guide basically has everything like that worth doing, at the very least it will have a part saying "while you're here, try to get such and such drop from x mobs, but if you don't no worries, it's not worth spending a bunch of effort on."

Leveling guides are mainly popular for 2 reasons. First off, they group quests much more effectively than you can do otherwise unless you have either an amazing memory or have leveled an insane amount of toons. It might "seem" like they're just having you hand in a bunch at once to "look" like more exp/hr, but that's just not the case. It's not like they're sending you out to do one quest, then back to grab another, then go do it, then come back and hand them both in at the same place when you could've just handed in the one the first time you went back. They figure out circuits where you get the most amount of quests done in the least amount of time. It's infinitely more efficient than do quest > hand in quest > do another quest > hand in quest > etc.

The second thing that makes a lot of them popular (especially Jame's) is that they'll often have some very specific details (and sometimes even videos) on how to do specific quests (mostly group ones that can be soloed) that might be really hard to figure out otherwise.
As a druid most have been soloable anyway, and with questhelper things are lumped together somewhat and you don't go turn in after every quest.

I've been comparing questhelper routes to Jame's routes and they are pretty similar.

What are you? AP for classes varies, but 2k+ dps is ok for naxx. EoE isn't hard as long as people aren't stupid on p3.

You're fine, my rogue doesn't do 2.4k dps on a training dummy but I'll pull 4k in 25naxx and 3-4k in 10naxx with buffs, in EoE dps is skewed cause of sparks and dragons, the better you execute the fight the higher dps you'll have regardless of gear.

Get your SV hunter DPS in while you still can, they're pretty ridiculously OP right now.

Trying to piece together some PvP gear for my mage.

What I have so far should be up on my Armory, if it's not my PvE gear showing up. (Ignore the FFB spec, I'll set up a real PvP spec once 3.1 rolls around.)

If it's not up, what I have so far includes:
Titan-forged Hood of Salvation + Wintergrasp SP enchant.
    Titan-forged Slippers of Salvation
    Flow of Knowledge
    from Wintergrasp, and
    Medallion of the Horde
Hateful Gladiator's Cuffs of Dominance + 40 Stam enchant
    from Honor, and
Savage Gladiator's Silk Raiment (threw a heavy borean kit on it +18 stam)
    from Heroic badges.
puts me at 395 Resilience so far.

I guess beyond suggestions of which pieces to prioritize from Honor and Heroic badges, I'm looking for advice on gem/enchant options.
So far I've got a Minor Run speed meta-gem but now that I picked up the boots, it looks like the best enchant for those is the Tuskarr's vitality... meaning I need a new meta-gem. Choices for PvP metas look like either -10% Stun/Root, -10% Fear, or +1% spell reflect.

What about other gem stats? Is Spell penetration worth a damn, really? Also, on critical rating...since other true PvP targets will be decked in resilience doesn't it make it a crappy stat to stack?
What I've kinda been goin by is Stam ~ Resil ~ SP > Haste ~ Crit > other crap... but if I should change my priorities LMK. Thoughts, suggestions, criticism?

You should be using the Chaotic Skyflare Diamond as your only meta. The PvP metas are trash =(. Also, you'll need to stack haste if you're pvping as frost, since you'll have an absurd amount of crit from talents. Also, you should get spellpen to cloak, and if you're trying to gem for the blues for the CSD, you can go for SP/Spell Pen or Haste/Spellpen iirc.

I had fun lvling, im still only 75, but I wanted to know if its still fun after you hit 80.

Heroics, dailies, Wintergrasp/Battlegrounds, crafting, or achievement whoring.

I wouldn't shy away from raiding as it's not really 'hardcore' at Naxx/OS25 levels unless you're in a group full of muffinheads. A halfway-competent group can push through most Naxx Wings and 0d Sarth in about two evenings.

Crafting really isn't something to do at 80 like it is something to do in ffxi.

You can buy mats for 1-3k off AH and powerlevel almost any profession in a day. There isn't items in this game like in ffxi where you made the only item on the server or some really rare thing.

Heroics are just harder versions of the instances you've probably already been doing. Some are fun but they will get old after a while. You can do dailies for money, although most people hate them after doing so many. Wintergrasp/BG's will take up a lot of your time if you enjoy them. Achievement whoring for sure will take up a lot of time if you're into that.

Raiding at first you'll probably love, and if you don't get too involved with them game (as you said, you dont want to be like you were with FF) then you'll love doing raids. You can do it casually whenever you feel like, get some gear, and see the content.

There is a lot to do after hitting 80, you'll always be able to leave town to do something somewhere. And if you get bored of all of it, then level another toon to do it on since I'm sure at that point you'll want to try another roll in a raid or arena/bg, and/or sell your chars woo.

Yeah raiding is usually less intensive than ffxi endgame. I have a really great guild and we do the 10 mans. Half of em are drunk off their ass by the end, but we all just shoot the shit the whole time. It's fun stuff.

The red bar shows the estimated places where most of the gear upgrades may come from.

The blue bar shows the estimated places where this character should perform well in its current gear.

This is quoted directly from the 2 lines of text immediately under the graphic you're talking about, btw ;p

from left to right are the weaker to harder raids

What it's saying with your red bar is that your best upgrades are pretty much all past 10 mans now, other than 10 man maly which gives 25 man loot. However, since it's between the 10 and 25 areas, it means you probably do still have a decent amount of possible upgrades from 10 mans.

And, yes, the blue bar is saying you're right on par for 25 man maly.
