I was wondering what classes are good for solo'ing old content (BC and WotLK) stuff. So far it seems like DK's have won out for solo'ing content. How do classes such as druid, paladin, rogue and hunter perform when solo'ing old world content compared to the efficiency of DK's?
DK is definitely best, and pal and hunter are pretty accurate. Some rogues are catching up in solo's though, and have gotten Kaelthas down and such. It definitely isn't easy as rogue - DK is pretty much made for it. I've heard of Demo locks doing well on quite a few things as well, but again, everything pales in comparison to the amount DK can do.
Contemplating going rogue as my main, since Blizzard keeps shitting on DKs non stop it seems, and I wouldnt mind a legendary either since the guild has no rogues at all.
So what are the top pve specs for rogues in terms of raiding? I would guess combat, but I know sub/assassination got buffs in the last patch to boost them as well. Right now im leveling as sub, but going to try assassination from 81 to 85 to get a feel for it.
Combat's a bit ahead in Firelands but this assumes access to weapons. You will always find yourself forced to spec into your strongest weapons. Sub struggles in Firelands due to rotation complexity and fights where being behind the boss is impractical.
I'm not a rogue, but I was under the impression assassination was better overall. Combat is only best when you can make good use of Blade Flurry (Rhyolith, Domo). Combat is debatable on H-Rag, but overall our rogue ended up going away from it.
That being said, Subt is supposedly the highest patchwerk-DPS, but loses the most from not being behind the target or running/etc, so it's less practical.
I was purely combat, then moved to Assassination. Less button pressing and easier rotation. Combat I felt was a tiny bit more button pressing and a bit more frantic if I build up energy too quick. I can spend all my energy in 2 button clicks as Ass and then just kinda sit there/chill/watch TV until I get more energy lol
Subtle relies on the fact you can maintain S&D, Rupture and Recuperate all at once, while balancing your Combo Point gain, and being behind the target, a bit too much attention for my liking, I don't often do it. At times when I did do it I was surprised by the DPS for sure, but often feel too lazy to pay too much attention.
Sub is terrible in pve right now. Ass/Combat are the specs to be, whichever you have the weapons for or the raid needs buff wise. Combat is slighty ahead overall for the most part, but I believe single target mutilate will win out. And pure aoe mutilate should be ahead.
The difference between the two specs in the same gear is ~1k DPS in theorycraft models so I don't expect the practical gap between the two being massive unless the fight design heavily favors cleave or the positioning requirements make things like Killing Spree impractical. My final advice is always 'learn both specs, use the spec that favors the weapons you can get to drop,' as has been the general Rogue wisdom since, like, TBC.
Looking for an Addon for Warrior specifically which does a similar job to:
http://media.curse.com/Curse.Project...nergyBarOn.JPG
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...ceadmiral.aspx
Just to keep track of my Collosus Smash, Rends/Bleeds, etc
EDIT: Checked Curse for Warrior addons and nothing seems to match that, not even the "DotTracker" which only seems to throw icons on the interface. I like Slice Admiral for its ability to display it as bars and such.
You want ClassTimer
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...lasstimer.aspx
I use DebuffFilter to track rend, colossus, hamstring, etc etc.
Wow! Had a quick go on both, seems good. Need to toy around a bit more. Really weird I couldn't find it otherwise! Thanks guys.
Thanks for posting that rogue addon lol, was just about to come in here and ask about one that was good at tracking all the different dots and effects.
That rogue addon is quite nice. If I pay attention, I can simply bank energy and unleash it whenever. Always in top 3 DPS meters because of it, in my opinion. With Ass's minimal/simple/less frantic rotation, it's fun!
elkano's buff bars for all your baring needs. (just make a new group and whitelist the debuffs you want it to show and what target you want it to show on and make it only show debuffs you've applied)
I used EBB for the longest time. Then I got super sick of their horrible config menus![]()
I got a tankard o terror, is it any good for classes that can use it such that I stand to make some money on it or should I just bank until I level something that can wield it?
And re: timers, I use a combination of Gnosis and Power Auras to track effects on target/self.
ForteXorcist
Nothing else is needed.
