Logitech MX-518. Though I think it may actually be out of production now. Google and find a picture, and get 1 similar IMO! In the end, mouse turning is more important than anything else, so 1 that's comfortable for you, but having the side thumb buttons is pretty nice (strongly suggest Vent/Mumble hotkey on that...so irritating when people say they can't say important shit because they have an awful vent bind).
Not sure I agree entirely...depends on class and how well you want to play it, but I've seen plenty of people/apps in my time that have sucked largely due to keybindings/ui/etc type stuff. Thumb mouse buttons really does help with that, though is obviously not enough on it's own (but as I said above, I really dunno a better place for a vent bind for wow).
It's probably best to just get comfortable with whatever mouse you're using then do everything else with comfortable keybinds. If his favorite, most comfortable optical mouse already has 4 buttons on it there's no reason to go upgrading to a $130, 17 button monstrosity.
I use a Razer Naga and I absolutely love the damn thing
Ok well, I agree with that. I'm pretty sure I'd mishit everything with that thing. But some basic 0-button mouse is awful, 2 side is fine, I think I'd go up to like 6 maybe if I cared enough, more than that I feel isn't useful and is a potential detriment.
At least we can all agree mouse turning is what's important here.![]()
I once tried to keyboard turn my way through the ram racing daily for brewfest. Hilarity ensued.
I used to have a razer mouse, back when I was into competitive FPS, but nowadays I just use a 2-button simple optical mouse. There's enough keys on the keyboard that you shouldn't absolutely need one (especially if you're enlightened enough to bind RDFG or ESDF). But yeah if you're going to buy a new mouse, get side buttons.
On the discussion of buttons/devices, at work we had to make a special purchase for a "foot pad" which has 6 buttons for a user, the program lets you bind it with anything you like to the keyboard, I believe.
I thought about buying one and having some macros on it, but that seems over the top lol
Nagas arent all that expensive and theyre comfortable as a titty to boot
I couldn't live without my Naga now. Takes a day or two to develop the muscle memory, but smooth sailing after that.
Been using a Razer DeathAdder since Burning Crusade launch, so good.
This is my gaming mouse and it's comfortable as ten titties. Nagas start at twice that and their value to a new WoW player is questionable at best.
My warrior dinged 85 yesterday, and I had all the mats for the 365 swords on me so I made those for him.
Currently hes fury with mostly greens, those 2 swords, and a hurricane card. I'm not sure if I should spend jp/vp/gear for prot or dps. Obviously there is no way I will be tanking heroics for a while, but I'm not sure if I should be spending points on it anyway.
I have a dps melee already on this server, so having a tank would give me something different to do. I just don't know the best/quickest way to gear it up. Currently I'm stockpiling JP and queing with guild as dps so I get both dps and tank gear.
how quickly do you want him kitted out? Chaos Orbs are going BoE in 4.3 which should substantially boost availability on that gear.
Quickly, but not so quickly that I spend a ton of gold doing it. I've only got like 30k gold right now, don't feel like blowing it all on an alt.
Darkmoon cards are cheap however, as well as the elementium shield, so I might get him the shield and a earthquake(?) deck. Friend bought me the dps valor bracers, I'll prob use rogues valor on tanking ones.
Don't forget about the Molten Front stuff that can be gotten fairly quickly. The capes alone from this quest are ilvl 365. Within a day of starting the dailies you can buy some pretty decent plate/str items from the vendor at the Front as well.
Also, Hallow's End is around the corner for dat helm.
Looks like all raids are in LFR
