Can anyone give me some advice on arcane mage so I can relay it to my RL friend whos damage is good but probably could be better?
He just got his 4pc, and hasnt reforged, so his hit or something might be off: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...d/Reggi/simple
He knows the burn phase of arcane, but he says during conserve phase he does 2-3AB (typically 3) > AM and he says he has a slight problem with mana overflow when he gets a ton of procs in which case he spams AB to get back to <100% for conserving till burn.
I think one of his major problems is he may move too much, but we are casual so It's nothing major. I just want to see if I can help him a little. He sees raidbots and logs and he just feels and seems a little low... although he doesn't seem to be too far off from simcraft on baleroc - however I don't understand simcrafts action priority list AT ALL compared to my warlocks action priority list, so its hard for me to break that down to him. Simcraft rates Hit ~3 (till he reforges) > Haste 1.4 > Mastery 1.2 > Crit 1.09
Honestly, only doing 2-3AB during conserve phase hasn't been optimal since early T11. He should be able to push 4-5 for each AM at this stage. It all depends on his mana really, which only he can manage. If he's ever over 95%, he's not using AB enough. The only comment I would make on his gear is that it seems like he's using T11 4pc stat weights. He would be better off dropping a little crit for haste. On another note, he doesn't need Improved Blink or Improved Polymorph. Not having Prismatic Cloak talented is really terrible for a raider.
One final thing that you can ask him about is how is he using Flame Orb? Especially since his conserve phase seems a bit too conservative, he can probably get a bit of extra DPS out of doing a mini burn phase when Flame Orb is up (getting down to 65-70% mana), then pop Orb and spam AM to get back to 90-95% mana for the rest of his conserve.
So who has a stream for Blizzcon today?
I have a 4 hour break at school, someone please save me!
thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu lol. Last normal Baleroc we had no spell damage debuff, no spell crit debuff, and no armor debuff and my rogue was at 28k and he was at 22.7. I figure he would have been at least in the 25-27k range, with me at least 30k. We both soak crystals but it still seems low to me if he was even properly buffed. We have the most retarded raid comp possible but it gets the job done.
Just reactivated and honestly I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed. I don't know what to expect from random dungeons these days.
I mostly played during WOTLK, and while I did a bunch of Cataclysm heroics right after the expansion came out, the mentality was probably different (people were more patient, not everyone knew every boss fight, etc).
My questions could easily be answered after queueing for a few heroics, but since the only class/spec I have geared right now is a DK tank, I'd feel better knowing about the state of the game beforehand.
My questions are:
-Are most people who queue for heroics geared and somewhat experienced?
--If so, does that allow you to do things like chain-pulling, skipping all CC, not worrying as much about boss mechanics, etc?
-Do people expect speed-runs of the likes of WOTLK these days?
-Are some wipes still common/somewhat accepted? In your experience, does the entire group rage-quit or start throwing insults around as soon as something bad happens?
-What DPS should I expect from my group members? In the one run I did, people were doing 12k-9k-9k in H Blackrock Caverns and the healer did nothing but complain for the entire run. It did feel like things were taking a while to die compared to what I think I remember.
Thanks for the answers, I had a couple more questions, but this will do for now. Split your answers between old heroics and ZA/ZG if you must.
Hopefully the next heroic I do goes better, I don't feel like I had a heartwarming "welcome back" experience.
#1 1/3 of the players are good, 1/3 are bad, and 1/3 are awful, and the average party can do the instance just fine. You definitively don't have to explain fight now, and
#2 You can usually chain pull (1 pull at the time) without worrying, but certain pull in place like Zul Aman requires you to know the fight and interrupt everything, or you will get rapped regardless of people. Boss mechanics, they are all fairly simple, but you cant ignore them either.
#3 wipe arent common if you're a good tank, and people take it badly usually, but its quick to get new players with random dungeon
#4 at this point, 9-13k is pretty low. At the start of this expansion, seeing 6-7k wasnt uncommon, but now, its more like 10k = bad, 16k= average , 22k+ = decent
I remember people posting a decent mouse for 30$ a few weeks ago, anyone remember which one it was. I'm looking for something with at least one button on each side.
Steelseries had a 40% off coupon the other day, might still work. BLIZZ2K11
I think it was that one, but i thought it did.
Buying a mouse piss me off. 10 years ago, you could easily get one that had a fuckton of button for really cheap and was working very well. Now, they all cost twice as much, and probably don't work much better.
Where? On blizzard website?
[edit]
nvm, got it
Does it still work? I kinda want to try that sensei out and resell it for normal price if I don't like it lol.
My only problem is my G500 has 3 thumb buttons, and I have them all shift/shift+ctrl bound. It would suck to have 1 less at this point. I'm pretty sure I have 3-8 abilities on my mouse depending on class.
Nah, wasnt working anymore sadly. Most mouse were out of stock anyway.
Any good guides for someone returning to the game? I stopped playing half way through Lich King and my cousin has convinced me to give the game another try.
So during a random group on my (Protection) Paladin, they were telling me to stop healing myself because I'd get more hate swinging instead of healing? Now I understand that may be true if I'm wasting the heals, and on trash mobs, it'll be more efficient to leave the healing to the healer, but from a hate-mechanics standpoint, is that true?
