From my limited experience on the PTR doing the LFRs, though, the most irritating thing is retards starting the encounter when the leader or someone is explaining the strategy. After all, it's way too much to ask for people to READ THE FUCKING DUNGEON JOURNAL to learn about the encounters prior to queuing.
    Hm, it got me thinking:

    Q. How will loot be distributed?

    A. Automatic rolls and a special version of the Need Before Greed loot rules will apply in Raid Finder raids, just as they do in Dungeon Finder instances. Also, while Dungeon Finder raids aren’t locked, you are only eligible for loot from a boss once per week. This means that if you were present for the defeat of a boss, whether you receive loot or not, then you will automatically pass on loot that drops during later attempts on that boss during the same week.

Rereading it a few times i'm not sure what it means anymore lol

EDIT: Just reread it once more, sounds like I can only roll for loot once per boss per week?

Pretty sure it means once you've killed a boss, even if you don't get loot from it you will automatically pass regardless the next time you kill it in RF.

So really no one's going to have an incentive to clear it in RF more than once a week.

This is correct afaik. You get 1 shot at loot. If you get a kill where loot drops, that was your "lockout" for that boss. However, if the group falls apart, later that week you can try again (or join w/ friends or whatever) and while you can't roll on loot on the boss you killed, if that 2nd raid gets further, you will be eligible for loot off the bosses you haven't killed yet. Basically, you don't screw yourself at all by joining a run that fails after 1 boss.

Thinking of coming back. I took a break 2 weeks before Firelands release, my Warrior was about half normal/heroic raid geared pre-firelands, how hard is it making it back to the top and getting ready for Heroic Firelands?

A bit too late now in my opinion.

Patch is out in the next 3~ weeks for new raid.

Just gear yourself up to 365 (or is it 359?) levels so you can enter the 3 new dungeons for 378 gear (FL normal gear level)

Otherwise, quite easy in my opinion if you get lucky with drops in FL with a good guild. But that combined with VP stuff you would need (980/week cap) you need to get might make it "too late" now.

I'm considering playing once Pandarens are an option, perhaps sooner to try out a few of the classes available to Pandarens.

My first inclination is Rogue. Is this a terrible idea? Are there jobs I should stay away from entirely?

I'm a complete WoW newb, so talk to me as if I'm a small child.

There really isn't such thing as a "terrible" class choice in WoW. Every class in generally represented in raiding (PvE). If you're after PvP, that's more like a revolving door and flavor of the month classes dominate - a lot of top pvpers have multiple classes leveled and switch based on what's currently overpowered.
Anyway, each class has 3 specializations (specs) to choose from. While in general every class has it's place in a raid, this is not the case for specs. A rogue has 3 different DPS (damage output) specs, so assuming that is what you want to do, there's nothing too wrong with choosing rogue. Realize this is a loss of versatility (at the same time, it prevents you from being pigeon-holed into a role you'd rather not play). Hybrid classes can do 2 or 3 out of the 3 roles (Tank, DPS, Heal), but may only have 1-2 spec options per rather than 3. A shaman for example has 1 healing spec, 1 melee DPS spec, and 1 ranged DPS spec. A paladin has a tank spec, a heal spec, and a melee DPS spec. So if you like the idea of filling multiple roles, you may want to consider a hybrid instead. On the other hand, healers and tanks are generally more sought after and less played, so you may end up "sucking it up" and playing a 2nd spec more than your primary if you go down that path.

Anyway, overall there's no reason to worry about class selection too much, as I said, they are all represented and better balanced than FFXI was with some jobs being 100% ignored in endgame. Do realize you also have the option to level a character now and pay for a race change after MoP is released.

If you have any more specific questions about well anything, feel free to ask.

Typed the below before FM's reply but forgot to post:

Nothing wrong with a rogue. You're stripped of any healing/tanking possibilities in exchange for some nifty moves and stuff.

You're full time melee, you'll use ranged weapons to pull, and one of your abilities which you'll use when there's loads of mobs around you for AoE is throwing your knives 360 hitting everything around you.

You can also stealth which makes you invisible to everyone unless they're absolutely next to you, which seems to be important come next patch for those pvp areas that they're placing emphasis on.

You'll also excel at pvp because of stealth (can choose your own battles/run away easier)

    ----

So with that being said, class picking, will fall squarely on your own preference in my opinion:

Do you like magical effects (caster classes) - or do you prefer to swing 2 gigantic axes to deal damage (warrior) or attack with some tricks and stealth (rogue) or have tank? Etc

Hunter - think of it as nearly like playing as a Ranger sub Beastmaster except you get a permanent pet

    ---

WoW is free to play until level 20 and lets you experience 9 classes (Death Knights can't be played as they start at level 55) -- so just download it and give it a whirl. Plenty to experience even for 20 levels.

Any other pet I should pick up for my MM Hunter?

Have a wolf (crit), cat (Horn buff), dragonhawk (magic damage +), raptor (armor), and bore(bleed).

Are you in a 10 or 25man? In 25, it doesn't really matter what you have as long as you bring 2+ ferocity pets for precasting CoTW.

You should be good as far as 10mans go for pet buffs. We run one of the most retarded raid comps possible and our hunter rarely uses anything other than wolf/hawk/raptor.

I don't let him use the bleed pet cause then I'd have to rupture ;p

Ravager is pretty much a must have for most 10mans. At least in most of the ones I find myself in, we don't have the physical damage debuff. Debuff is brought my Frost DK, Combat Rogues, Arms Warriors and Ravager pets. Problem is... more often than not our tank is our DK. Even if Combat Rogues are back in fashion, they are still rarely seen in any raid I am in. Lastly, there are no PvE Arms Warriors. So the debuff is brought by the hunter.

It really depends on what you like to play. Rogue does very good damage, there just has been a shortage of rogues and locks as this expansion has gone along. There really is very little to draw people to non Hybrid classes and without the Hybrid tax on dps, there really is not a reason to bring a "pure" over a hybrid (unless you are a mage).

Rogues are good dps, if you prefer the "stealth/stun" style of gameplay. What it really boils down to though is what sort of Resource management you want to play with. Something like rage (which will more than likely fundamentally change between 4.3 and 5.0) or energy/focus. Rage is based on damage you do and take and can be inconsistent. While energy is gained at a constant rate. Focus is like energy and is gained at a constant rate as well as you having focus builders. Then you have runes, holy power or mana. I would say since you are new to WoW that Death Knight is not a class you want to start with. Rune management is easy, but is farm more complicated than watching a bar go up and down. Holy Power management is probably the easiest to manage in most cases however.

This is the main thing, pick the class that looks like fun, and the one you think you will enjoy the resource management mini-game for.

Personally, from a "newb" standpoint I would push you towards druid or paladin. both are hybrids that have healer and melee specs. Both have simple to understand resource systems. There is a reason both classes are the most played, they simply have the most options.

On my 57 Hunter, I'm still using Bow of Searing Arrows ( http://us.battle.net/wow/en/item/2825 ), and I kinda feel bad that I haven't upgraded at all in 20 levels. But when I look at other, random green or blue bows, they only have maybe ~6-10 DPS more than it, so I don't know if it'll be much of an upgrade at all because of the existing proc. Any thoughts?

Since you don't have heirloom bow, you should just wait for outlands at 58. One of the first quests will give you a green that should be a huge upgrade.

Last thing I would stress myself with while leveling is gears. Outland bow will offer a significant upgrade, and you should be able to find one very early in the questline (or dungeon if you're lucky)

I am looking for an US Ally Server with pretty even horde to Ally ratio. Ally leaning dominance (Server) and an Ally dominated Battlegroup. Any suggestions? My current server Horde outnumber ally 4 : 1
