I don't mean to sound like a jerk or anything, but what happens in LFR has virtually no bearing on the real raid, it's purely to see the basics of the boss mechanics.

We've been doing eye > flails > claw, but the melee don't go to the eye so we don't get flung.

ret really can't hold its own until you get geared up, it's fine then though

as holy you'll always be useful and wanted/needed

there pretty much has never been a time in all of WoW since vanilla in which holy pallies were not insanely strong/OP in battlegrounds

arenas it's been off and on, but holy pallies have been dominating bg's since they first came out

Whats single minded fury like right now?

My warrior is prot/pvp arms but I just got 2 free cleavers from firelands and wanted to give SMF a try. I don't like the titans grip rotation for fury but it looks like SMF prioritizes slam higher, and I miss my warrior rotation from wrath so I might like this more.

Is the damage really shitty, or just a little shitty? I wanna know before I waste these cleavers and bind them to my character.

Thinking of making an Alliance Shaman. Any particular difference between Dwarf and Draenei?

Yeah, I got that far, heh.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to gathering useful information for WoW. Wowwiki seems horribly out-of-date in a lot of places. Wowhead seems decent, but I'm still learning how to use its database. As far as playing tips, I don't know where to turn. There seems to be an awful lot of conflicting information, and I don’t know how to discern the grain from the chaff.

What resources do people here use?

I'd recommend tankspot over mmo-champ. mmo-champ's forums are a serious cesspool.

The only thing mmochamp is good at is keeping track of the blue posts and WoW related news.

Elistjerk and wowhead probably have 90% of the information you're looking for.

If you're looking for specific raid strategy, tankspot/learn to raid video on youtube usually have great tutorial. I also use
http://www.icy-veins.com/dragon-soul-raid to get a good grasp of the raid mechanics when we are progressing.

So what is the amount of dmg needed to stop the fire grip from the corruption tentacles, raid is doing far too much damn dmg to the tentacle where we end up with a 2nd Amalgamation before burning tentacle pops up, which spawns a new corruption tentacle and we get a fire grip during the burn phase and lose 3 dps, which sucks because we end up needing another 10% or so on the burning tentacle to pop the armor off.

MMO's stickies are usually straight from EJ, and sometimes dumb'd down slightly. In fact, there are some stickies on MMO that EJ has hijacked and implemented into theirs. Don't discredit mmo-champ, its actually a pretty decent resource.

    Not very much.

With 3 healers 2 tanks, we had no problem dpsing down the ligament.

We're doing 25mans, and a grip on 3 dps seems to mess us up pretty bad if that happens.

Go Draenei if you can, that 1% may not be much, but it's better than expertise in maces... unless you are doing enhancement.. but even that, as enchancement that 1% is nice to have

The only EJ threads I want dumbed down come from their fucking mage forums lol.

Everything else is pretty intuitive to follow.

I'm thinking I'll probably go Enhancement to start, at least. I was leaning toward a demon girl anyway, so I'll stick with Draenei.

As a Shaman, is there any real purpose to Cooking or First Aid? The low-level items made by them all seem to be HP-restoring consumables. Is there anything worthwhile at later levels that would warrant leveling them rather than simply auctioning the ingredients?

Cooking is nice later on because of the stat buffs

    First Aid > Cooking.

Someone else can always lay down a feast. When the chips are down, only you can bandage yourself.

Bandaging is still useful for a hybrid class with heals? Kind of a last resort thing after all mana is gone, I guess?

It happens more often than all ten players in the raid not having the req. cooking to lay down a feast.

Thanks for the input. I'll try to keep up with both of them.
