blood presence is pointless if not counterproductive, barely any damage reduction and you lose half a second on your gcd's, 15% movement speed, and a ton of haste
if you really want to play frost with phd I'd suggest going with a full on masterfrost build with no oblit at all, and basically just kite everything with howling blast spam while your hunter kills shit, and dump your rp on them with frost strikes whenever they get close
I'm doing the masterfrost build, but using NS mostly and not HB since that seems to be the general consensus on that. *Shrug* Maybe im doing it wrong cuz it sure as hell feels like it.
If it's single target damage, it's very good and your rotation/talents/stats are probably right. If it's overall data....it's still decent, but hard to tell since there is ten billion different factors that influence it.
The best way to know if you're doing fight is a fight like Balerog or Ultraxion.
using your death on necro all the time will leave you rp starved, you'll generally get more out of howling, plus it's ranged
Meresgi: Kyre had some excellent videos on his frost DK PvP, infact I mimic'd his style and got significantly better results:

Read through that thread (it's in Spam) -- skip most of it but on the videos/bits he posted they are very informative.
yeah that's pretty good, I'm reasonably well geared (384ish) and have my rotations down pretty good and I'm around 31k on him in 10 man now
anyone got any random advice for gunship? got him to 50% but we were down a couple ranged and a healer for entire p2 on our best try lol
Seem pretty decent. 25k is your target dps for 10m Ultraxion, but since you get less buffs in a 10m group than you do in a 25m group, you're probably closer to an actual 22-23k (which is still good with that gear level). It's more than enough to pug the first 4 bosses of DS on normal mode and you're unlikely to be the last DPS in any groups you will get in.
Your first post implied that you did not read any guide, but at this point, it might be worthwhile to spend 30min reading one to make sure that you're doing everything correctly.

You're obviously doing fine all around, but improving certain details might add a few hundred damage here and there.
Are there any add-ons that help track trinket activation? I can't seem to keep any of it straight, and it's a rare occasion that I put them to full use.
If no add-ons, any tips would be appreciated.
It's not optimal, but if you're really struggling to put them to use then just macro them into your abilities. Using them on CD is better than not using them at all.
If you're referring to tracking the buffs on proc trinkets then something like powerauras would probably help there.
To anyone who has experienced both DK Blood/Frost and Pally Prot/Ret for solo purposes, how much is the gap between the two?
I'm not referring to anything trivial like TBC heroics, of course, but to most of LK HC content, from 5man to raid (when applicable). I am under the impression that there is quite a difference between the two, especially comparing DK Blood (which tends to make me immortal, and kills relatively fast) to Prot Pally (constant damage income, need to prolonge fights with WoG or seals, making them very long), but maybe I'm just looking at Prot under the wrong light.
DK tanking style based on constant heals + heavy DPS + burst damage when needed really seems to trash Paladin.
Frost solo has fizzed out a bit, due to Death Strike crits and surviviablity as Blood, Blood is:
In my mind the chart goes:
Blood >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Prot > Frost/Ret
The gap is incredible especially when it comes to solo, due to the Blood shield you can nearly forever keep it up. I don't think you're doing anything wrong as Paladin but if only WoG had no cooldown then it would lessen the gap slightly.
While Frost/Ret has their moments, it relies on you killing your enemy much quicker than they can kill you. However, I've never tried stacking tank items in Ret spec to see if I can ghetto DK tank something. WoG is 10s cool down as Ret afterall. I did watch my HOLY paladin friend solo al-alkir to berserk after an early wipe (after-nerf).
Since the patch, and although there has been no significant buffs that I recall on DK, I am signficantly stronger than before as DK.
On single target boss fights, providing I'm glued to the boss I can usually whip out 20k DPS. This is all while still in T12/4.2 items.
On trash fights, like the 3 blobs in Dragon Soul, I do 35k~ DPS. Even the guys in the raid wonder what the fuck happened lol.
soloed 25 man sapph tonight, call me when a pally pulls that off
also getting close to najentus as frost, I think I may be the first person to solo it without a combat drop, just need a nice string of luck with procs/crits
I believe 4.3 buffed Blood Presence armor contribution, plus the DS effect always triggering, even after miss/dodge.Since the patch, and although there has been no significant buffs that I recall on DK, I am signficantly stronger than before as DK.
that's my issue.soloed 25 man sapph tonight, call me when a pally pulls that off
I really am attached to my paladin, but fun-wise my DK destroys her.
same pretty much, I still get the occasional urge to go back to pally because that toon has sooo much in terms of achieves and old gear and mounts and shit, but yeah dk is just crazy fun
the big buff people aren't recognizing is the speed with which vengeance ramps up and the ease of maintaining the max now, I had 12.5k vengeance within the first 30 seconds or so on sapph and it never fell the entire fight
Oh I mean significant damage buffs, except Vengenance I guess, which may explain why I'm able to ramp up my damage really quick and overshadow some DPS.
Infact, that's probably it. before it built up slow, but 3 secs into the fight current content you get 14000+ attack power, combined with a 2 handed weapon's damage then I guess the high DPS is justified.
Combined with the survivability, and if I stack a bit more crit gear (to up my crit chance to 50%) then I could realistically crit with every other Death Strike (30% base chance).
Not tried it yet, as I'm lacking a bit of bag space to carry another set of gear around. But I imagine if I can gear up to 20% crit and then mastery, followed by haste, I can solo even more effectively than before.
On the subject of DKs...
DK t13 2pc:
Double Rime Procs - How do you guys use them? Back to back, or use one then hold the other as long as you can?
I've been actively trying to do the later and I think it works pretty well. (Haven't tested anything yet, but it makes the priority system smoother i think) But if it is a gain to use both asap, I'd be interested to know what you guys think.
(I play 2H Frost btw)
2h frost is so far behind >.>
use it exactly as you would in your priority if they were single procs
My gear is beast for solo cuz I'm dps main for raiding, so I'm soloing in blood spec with 378/397 dps gear. It's all reforged for haste though, not crit. Honestly think that's better anyway.
Also occasionally your dps being too high means you're doing it wrong in group scenarios heh. As long as you're holding hate you shouldn't be heart striking much at all these days.
