I took jewelcrafting from 0 to max in 4 hours using the AH and buying every single overpriced mats. I thought it would have been more as well, but I was only short 4k by the end. Price aren't low on my server generally, so I'm assuming its a pretty standard cost.
I don't know about enchanting, but I would be surprise if there was no cheaper recipe available. Powder/crystal are really not that much. There is also a ton of gears you can disenchant on the AH that are probably less than 10g.
And like I said, profession are an investment, not an expense. I already made well over 5k in 2 weeks with jewelcrafting without making any effort. Nothing beat blacksmithing for me in term of money/time tho.
They have a rep tabard, but you need to have access to the quatermaster (which mean you completed the whole zone)
I have a character stuck on the realm Eonar(US Horde) with 6k~ gold on it and it's not worth the money to transfer. Any chance anyone has a character on Eonar that also has a Character on Sargeras(US Horde) or Kil'jaeden(US Horde) that would want to transfer gold? I figured it'd be along shot, but who knows.
Chiming in about professions. On Horde Greymane, I spent about 12k powerleveling enchanting, 4k on jc, about 4-6k on tailoring, and I farmed everything for alchemy(this also provided my bankroll for the others). I have a mining/herbalism guy as well.
Professions are easy to level in this game. I can't think of a good reason not to have 2 maxed on every guy. Even for casuals, because I consider myself one.
Tailoring on my server was the most horrifying profession to level on my mage, I have never leveled such a shitty gold burning profession ever.
I had a discussion with a few friends about this topic ss my Cata question in this post, I'd be interested what other people think of this;
Do you think worst players in the world top 10 guilds are worse/better than one of the best players in guilds that are ranked top 50, and what about top 100?
I think the level of skill you need o pull off kills with sub-par gear due to trying to clear content as fast as possible(skipping normal clears for heroic attempts that week come to mind) makes you pretty damn skilled.
I'm sure the worst person in say the 10th ranked guild is probably worse then the first ranked in the 11th but if they were really holding them back they wouldn't be 10th would they? Also someones skill and holding back a guild depends on their class. Some fights its a mechanic test and as long as they don't fail that part even if they do shitty dps they can still pass the bar. Likewise tanking is usually pretty easy and usually if you know your class like they do, your tanking has little bearing on the fight as it's usually a DPS race or a healing test that make it hard.
Just hit 85 on my Hunter and starting to do some heroics. Is there a good site where I can read up on all the boss and dungeon / raid mechanics? Wowhead and WoWWiki sometimes have relevant information, but neither seem to be really complete.
For just "reading" material on Raid encounter strategies and abilities just head over to Icy-Veins. They do not cover all of the dungeons (only ZG/HoT) but they are pretty thorough. For any of the older stuff, I would just rely on the in game Dungeon Journal and of course if you have questions on something specific you can always google it. I do know there was a Glory to the Cataclysmic Hero guide on MMO-Champion at one point.
Yeah, Icy Veins is probably the best thing there is right now to learn a strategy. You can try to watch 10 man video on youtube as well, but I prefer written explanation usually.
Fatboss on Youtube
www.love2playwow.com for raid mechanics
Dungeon mechanics are not really a big deal to worry about if you are DPS.
this is also pretty nice

What do I need to do to get new/different instances at 82? I been running throne of tides and black rock mountain for 2 whole levels and I'm getting bored of them but I feel like I should be able to random sue for others. Someone in my party mentioned its based on ilvl of your gear and you need 272 min. Any truth to this or am I just getting lucky at 82 and the randomness is just dealing me a shitty hand?
You do need a minimum level but 82 should allow you into stonecore. Check your list of specific dungeons to see what's available and what's locked.
Unfortunately you're probably grouped up with people, especially if you chose random instead of specific, who are also too lazy to get their ilvl up. It's not surprising for me as tank to get Stonecore repeatedly even at 84 as the top 3 (Lost City, Halls of Orig and Grim Batol) were "locked" due to people not having the ilvl for it.
I wouldnt use the dungeon finder at this level unless you're done with deepholm. You will need to complete that series of quests sooner or later to get the enchants (shoulder enchant). Hyjal should also be be progressed up to a certain point too for 2 easy 369 pieces at lv 85. It's not as important since 4.3, but it can still save you some time later (since you need a certain ilvl to enter 5man heroic and raid finder).
[edit]
This is the rep you want to max out depending of your class. Make sure to do every quests in these zones.
Str Dps: Therazane rep and Twilight Highland rep
Agi dps: Therazane rep and Uldum rep
Tank: Therazane rep and Vash'jr
Mage: Therazane rep and Hyjal
You cannot get the top 3 via the random dungeon finder at level 84, ever. It'll only let you in once you're 85, which is odd, because you can specifically queue for them, but that's how it is. At 84, you will always get either Stonecore or Vortex Pinnacle if you random. You can check the little dice icon when you queue to see what you're eligible for.
^ This is good advice, which I only found out through trial and error after largely grinding dungeon finder 80-84 on 2 of my characters. Quest in the areas that give you the relevant enchants (i.e. Therazane, and one or two other) to bring yourself to at least Honored for the appropriate factions. Dungeon finder gear won't really help you once you hit 85. The only reason you may want to do them is to cap JP, allowing you to buy a couple ilvl 378 pieces right away. That'll help you jump straight into ilvl 329 heroics instead of having to grind the last 3 normal modes. Or you can just buy ilvl 377 BoEs from the AH.
I'm curious, though, Kaylia. What's the quest for these 378 pieces?
And thanks for the links earlier, guys.
