weird question but. I just faction transferred yesterday and played all day with no problems. I go to log on today and the faction transfer is reopened which I don't want, but when I go to just log on it says the transfer has to finish on the website.. where my status is listed as 'unknown'. I didn't log on until after 5 PST so I couldn't call in and left an online ticket, just wondering if anyone has had anything like this happen? Im scared to mess with anything since I was already charged and don't want to have to pay again for anything

What reforge tools do people here use?

I normally use wowreforge.com, but for some reason I can't get past the import page at the moment. I tried reforgemaster.com, but the interface is clunky and less versatile than wowreforge.com.

Anyone who does blood tanking as a DK know of decent guides out there to go off of? EJ seems to be dated back to 4.1 and 4.2 and the original poster has since quit the game.

What do you want to know specifically?

I roll in:
200% mastery (nearly 4000 rating I believe)
Total of 33% or so avoidance
175k or so HP

That's my tank setup.

You can time your death strikes if anticipating huge damage, otherwise just spam away. Use cooldowns appropiately and frequently, i.e. stick a bone shield up during downtime (tank swaps or because boss is moving somewhere to do a super move).

I don't understand why guides tell you to Rune Strike for threat. It's shit for threat nowadays. Slamming Death Strike if it's up and if it crits yields far more threat.

If both Blood Runes are up and all 4 other runes are charging, hit Blood Tap and you will yield a 3rd possible death strike (it will convert a Blood Rune to Death Rune and instantly recharge another to a Death Rune). This increases your survivability and DPS.

Otherwise, I really don't use my tank gear anymore and instead go full DPS gear. I am attemting Skittles boss tonight again on heroic and on that fight most of it is magical damage, I am preparing to use full DPS gear and mirror trinket. I also have a sword to switch to which reduces magic damage by 4% (that rune of spell something). I tanked the fight last week fine, but leader called to wipe it because 2 DPS died, but I only had 1 attempt. I planned to switch to that sword at 4 stacks of void bold to negate some of the damage combined with my own shield.

Your advantage of going full DPS gear is that you do somewhat fit more Death Strikes in due to the haste in your usual DPS gear. Coupled with the STR gemming and such, you also have somewhat (even if the returns are diminished) high parry. Therefore, by going full DPS all you're doing is losing a bit of dodge and mastery, and maybe 20-40k HP. Due to how DK tanking works, that loss is made up for your more frequent Death Strikes.

Before the nerfs, perhaps it's a bad idea, but due to the nerfs now, and even more soon, I see no reason to be in tank gear, unless it's for the 4 set to help your healers out.

That reminds me, someone on EJ asked about having a tank set, but gemming for STR and capped hit/exp. I'm going to try that.

EDIT: oh, and play aggressively.

Trying to figure out gearing more then playstyle, I used to do blood tanking back in 4.1. I have the soulshifter vortex regular and the unchaining trinket LFR version from DS so not sure how good they are compared to things like the Veil out of the 5man instance or the VP trinket. I have shoulders/chest LFR tier for tanking, the rest I have VP gear being swapped in, the VP boots/belt/helm/gloves and the crafted pants. I see no real valid necklace from the 5mans for tanking so I guess the VP neck is the choice there, also need another ring.

I'm not really going to tank raids right now per say, as i'm only doing this for the call to arms chance at mounts I despise farming as well as just making extra cash and giving me a change of pace.

In that case:

Pick 1:

Mastery > Parry/Dodge > Stamina

or..

Parry/Dodge until about 35% total (including Swordshatter rune) | i've not tried but it looks like getting to even 40% avoidance at the cost of mastery is way too much diminishing returns> Mastery > Stamina

VP neck is the BiS neck. A BoE tanking neck drops in the last dungeon off trash
VP trinket is also very good, for the mastery, use the on use thing when tanking loads of mobs are just in general
Soulshifter Vortex is OK, keep track of the proc and Death Strike as much as possible while it's up, I rarely use it.

There's not much to gear for, you seem to have it all down.

I just use the reforgelite addon myself. The presets are pretty accurate from what I've seen, but if you want a custom setup it has everything you need for that too.

What's the name of the addon which tracks achievement requirements and posts to chat when it's complete?

i.e after 18 abominations on kel'thusad it says "Just can't get enough" complete! kill boss now!

Do they varying ilvl Gurths' tentacles do more damage based on ilvl or are all 3 the same?

I couldn't get naked, so I had basic tank gear on with nothing on proc:

LFR Gurth = 9882/tic (no rune)
Normal Gurth = 11155/tic (gargoyle rune/no proc to increase any sort of dps)

I had gargoyle rune on it, meaning the increase in tic wasn't because of something on my weapons or some proc.

EDIT: I couldn't un-rune the weapon, so i put gargoyle on it

Oh gotcha. So they add 1000 per tentacle per ilvl change factoring the str difference from the weapon. The difference you showed was 1273, so givin 273~ damage to the str you get seems reasonable?

Hm, good point, I never taken account into the extra str on my high ilvl one

I'll stack some str somewhere, maybe via trinkets, to see if that is the case.
