Im coming away from from 5 yrs of ffxi, been playing wow some, is this game race dependent much like ffxi is, im looking to roll a hore rogue soon, and wanted to do BE, but most im hearing is troll is the better race. Many have said its not race dependent and some say it is, because I just dont want to do a troll their fugly and hate the way they swing weapons.

Races makes a bigger difference in WoW than FFXI, but race makes almost no difference in FFXI so that's not saying much.

BE is imo the weakest rogue race for the horde, orc and troll are both better, but it doesn't REALLY matter. Some people might make fun of you and you probably won't get into a super elitist guild, but for the most part it won't matter at all, everyone rolls a BE anyway.

It's not race dependent, you will do perfectly fine as a BE rogue.

It makes no damn difference really. At level 80, stat differences aren't usually more than 5 points apart. Play what you love. Trust me; as a vet in my guild looking for more people; race means jack shit. Finding people that are good at what they do is far more important.

Edit: just fair warning; blood elves have HORRIBLE /dance emote lol.

Horde is all about the Tauren, or Undead if you want to play a class that isn't otherwise available :D

And BEs may have terrible dance moves but I'll take them over Gnomes and female Orcs any day...plus the BE laugh is awesomely creepy >.>

To any tanks out there, how much expertise do you guys wear? I have a bear tank and I've tanked all of the 10 man instances (and some 25 fights like OS), but I have a feeling mine is low.

Main reason I ask is I'm wondering if I should get the PvP legs instead of the legs I'm currently using, but it'd drop my expertise by almost half.

So far I've not had much problem, just curious about where you'd rank expertise! I haven't found bosses block / dodge my things all that much, and when my threat is already way higher than everyone else it almost doesn't matter if I miss here and there (to me). Since I still have a billion other threat moves that make up for it.

I think the goal is 26 expertise, on my DK I have around 14ish expertise. Make sure you're hit capped before you start going after expertise though :D.

26, and getting expertise capped as bear is extremely easy to do, hit cap is much more difficult.

Hit capping as a bear is not likely to happen, and Expertise is actually a mitigation-enabled stat when you consider parry. Expertise >>> hit when tanking imo.

Ah thanks. As bear I get +10 expertise via talents, so 14 more isn't hard really, but yeah hit sucks. Awesome thanks for replies.

err, what happened to these weapons, announced in december together with the first tier8s ? just my opinion, but they look much more nice and epic than the ones dropping in Ulduar right now, and still having a strong visual affinity with the whole of Ulduar...

Algalon's loot table isn't known yet and it would make sense for the best graphics to come from the hardest boss so the long lost visual representation of your skill can be shown.

Have you guys ever had any good experiences with PUG's (pick up groups)? Especially in higher level content? Do you avoid them entirely?

I've had some fantastic pugs before, and I've had one's I've left after 10 minutes. It's honestly luck of the draw most of the time. Best pug was EoE10 with a mix of the 3 top guilds from my server (and then me lawls), 2 shotted it in 7 minutes. Would have been a one shot but it bugged in p3 and flat out insta-gibbed everyone :D

Quick question, is there any possible way to be on the European client/servers and play on the American servers? There used to be a way I think, but I've forgotten how I did it.

Basically, I started playing on European servers because friends IRL played on there too, but they rarely play if at all now. Therefore I actually know more American's who play the game regularly and would like to switch.

Should be able to edit %WoWDIR%\Data\enGB\realmlist.wtf to point to US login servers.

set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set portal us

Don't change the patchlist line. You still need enGB patches. You won't be able to play US servers on patchday until EU servers update.

Thanks for the response Aers.

Gave it a go, turns out they've separated the European and US account information, whenever I try to log in to the US servers, it tells me that my account information is wrong. I tried logging in on the US WoW webpage also to no avail.
