I started leveling a mage out of boredom and realized that after 40 levels I'm still using the same 3 buttons... does this ever change?
arcane, if you're wondering
Nope. Not one bit.
sweet. can teach random broad to play this, lets me go back to lock. MAX DPS DUO
Is arcane better for leveling now? I've had a frost mage for a while that I level from time to time, but if arcane is better I will switch to that.
playing only 1 spec while lvling is a really bad idea imo. Mage's DPS is really volatile right now. Just recently it was fire that was top DPS, and now it's arcane, probably will change again in 5.2. So at least learn the basics of all specs while you are leveling, better than learning mid progression.
i haven't hit 40 yet to dual spec, lol, but i'll prolly play with ice as an off-spec, especially since i have a guildie that cries for me to pvp with him on my lock, but i am hot garbage as lock and my rogue isn't on the server.
can get dual spec pretty early on now I think
It is 30 now I think.
So to answer my own question about the tax shit, and I did not know this. Blizzard charges you taxes based on where your ACCOUNT INFORMATION says you are, not where your debit card is issued from or anything else. So if you're getting charged 8% tax just change your info and see if that stops the tax. Sure it's only $1.20 extra but that shit can buy you some fries or a snack wrap!
For every pure DPS class, there will be one spec that is slightly ahead and most players will flock to it (unless it's Subtlety, lol).
Fire and Frost are entirely useable right now, and I'd wager that Arcane will be entirely useable come 5.2.
I'll be honest I've been a Shadow Priest since 2009, I picked up Priest fresh out of FFXI where I loved my WHM and then realized as I got to WoW that I was burned out on healing. Switched to Shadow spec and haven't looked back, through all the good and bad, it's quite honestly the only class I'm comfortable with playing at any sort of high-stress situation. I pull out my Frost DK from time to time and level her, but I could never perform on that toon at the level I do with my Priest.
I started with a rogue, as every game i've ever played, other than ffxi, i've played a rogue/thief type. Leveled a DK because we needed another tank/dps, then a druid because we needed a healer. Leveled the lock out of boredom and fell in love, now doing the mage because i can do comparable dps and not have to worry about my damn shammy ALWAYS DYING BEFORE WE WANT TO USE LUST
Arcane Mage is a fucking stationary turret. I hate it. At least with Frost you get a pet to manage, even with the dps/utility tradeoff.
part of the reason warlock is so hard for me to truly put down. I feel like a tank (actual military type), as I'm constantly moving even in stationary fights, and raining down hell. Even kiting pheremones on garalon, I still manage to nearly out-dps the rest of the people staying on garlon and not raping legs. The first time a mage truly caught my eye was on the protectors, though. I finished with ~87k dps, and he finished with ~105k, with similar ilvls.
I might spec out of Rune of Power just so I don't feel like I have to root myself to the ground for 60 seconds every goddamn fight.
