So from what I am reading, my friend will be getting WoW plus all of it's expansions in this months loot crate(great way to get sub numbers up for legion?). Can I still recruit a friend her since she will be getting the game free?

Yes, she will have to redeem a code for the expansions and the original game. As long as you refer her when she starts the battle.net account, you'll get credit. I did it with two friends a few expansions ago when they started playing.

And I can confirm. I had a friend RAF me, I made the starter version from it, and spent a couple weeks on that to adapt, get addons sorted, and finish up the D3 season and some XIV stuff squared away.
Then I applied the code from the movie and bam, full feature unlock.

Since I can't afford to sub 2 games at once, I have to self-sus WoW tokens if I want to continue after the movie code time runs out. And having the RAF XP bonus got me to 100 in a week, so more time to go after the big gold.
Probably not an issue for other people, and in the long run I would like to make an alt for running through the quests/game properly.
But if you want to get a character to 100 ASAP, and have a day or two to go HAM at it, you can probably get it done in a weekend. Though you still need to go through most of Draenor properly to unlock the garrison and Tanaan.

It's free at a Transmog NPC to hide your helm, cape, and shoulders now. Go to Interface -> Display, then toggle Status Text off of Both and back to Both and hit Okay.

Yeah, I was pissed at first until I figured this out. But it's still annoying because when you get a new toon that's got full heirlooms, you have to run all the way to Stormwind or Org just to mog their ugly heirloom headpiece off. And literally none of the heirloom headpieces look good. I wish they'd put a quasi-transmog guy in every major city so we can at least mog off the head/shoulders/cape anywhere.

The mindless "free, direct, PILES" of gold, yes. But garrisons still output things that are worth gold, enough that it's worth bothering with.

So, I'm trying to decide on whether or not I should pony up for Legion, or just wait for the eventual 75% off sale in a year.

I really hate what they've done with Brewmaster, and I'm ready to find a new main class. Demon Hunter looks fun from an aesthetic perspective, between the style and the double-jump and gliding and shit, but the rotations look incredibly simple and uninteresting, particularly for pre-launch.

Has anyone played DH a lot on the beta? Any impressions that you'd care to give?

I've been playing it since its release as well. Panderan Brewmaster is what got me started playing WoW. With the brew changes, the mastery changes, change to Expel Harm, the removal of Guard, and the overall nerfing of tank healing, it's just not something that I enjoy any longer.

If your buddy is still enjoying it, good for him; I'm glad someone does. It's just no longer for me.
