I haven't played in a few months and I feel like doing some bg's with my rogue to get some of the honor gear. I currently have rather shitty gear (blues and like 2 crafted epics) and would like to know what spec (preferably mutilate or a dagger one as I don't have other weps) would work best for someone with shit for gear. I don't want to choose talents that work best for people with a ton of attack or requires high crit percent when I don't have that yet.

Also, I think I recall the dual spec thing (you can change between 2 specs) was put into place. Do you make both of those specs at the talent guy or do you have to do some quest to be able to switch between them.

You go to a class trainer and pay 1000g to get Dual Spec.

Tier tokens, who do you give them to first?

Do you guys let every class that can wear have a shot at it? Or do you give priority to tanks/dps/healers? I once read somewhere that DPS should always get first but now I can't find that thread anywhere. Currently my guild "perfers" to gear out tanks first because of how hard some encounters hit, but in theory if they are able to be healed through it, or the dps down it fast enough, than that shouldn't matter. Not to mention, if you can survive the encounter once, you can survive it still with or without the tier piece and that downing it faster would be the best option.

Tier goes to whoever has the most dkp and wants to spend dkp on it in our guild. There's arguments for whatever getting it first but they are just that, arguements. Ultimately whoever puts in the most effort by attending and getting everyone else stuff should get it as their continual efforts are whats helping the guild progress.

I tanked in tbc and I was given priority then and loved it. Didn't question of course. Now as dps it's like hmm lol.

This is basically why the "gear up the key people first" idea doesn't fly imo; progression will average out regardless of who gets it, you would have to be severely undergeared for a single encounter's drops to mean the difference between more bosses and being stonewalled. If you understand the dynamics of the fight and who needs to do what when, then you don't have to have absolute top of the line gear.

Plus spreading the love keeps everyone coming back since everybody feels like they're contributing and getting something out of it.

Gearing up tanks helps tremendously - especially on hardmodes. Too many chances of insta gibs when your tank is taking 60k hits unmitigated like steelbreaker, or 30k every second from thorim. 4pc tier 8 bonuses help tremendously in these situations. Also, gearing up tanks can help for threat. I know prior to getting twisted voyage for my bear, i had trouble keeping threat in thorim's arena tunnel. Now its a joke.

Heroes' Dreamwalker Raiments, or Tunic of Dislocation for feral kittycat? *nubkitty*

Didn't I see a screenshot of someone's addon that showed in the item description whether it would be an upgrade or not?

I get confused when stats are so close to matching... @.@

You get an addon called Pawn, fill it with "weights" for each stat to show how good they are compared to the other stats (can usually find sample weights, also called equivalence points or EP, on elitistjerks, or at least find out how to calculate them there) and it gives each item a score in the tooltip which yo ucan then compare.

Pawn is ok but it doesn't account for changes in the weight of your gear, it assumes raw 'price' values for every stat. Use Rawr instead, it adjusts weights as your gear changes. What may be better one moment is worse the next.

Just from eyeballing that comparison I'd use the T7 piece though. Haste is very mediocre for feral dps, and you're only losing 6 ap and a little expertise (which you're probably close to capping if you're talented correctly), at a gain of 54 crit rating.

Yeah, but if you can calculate your calculate your own EPs, like we Enh shamans can, you adjust them yourself when you get new gear so Pawn is always up to date, plus its in-game so saves loading up rawr every time you want to check something.

I just take note of what loot I could actually use from a particular boss and check those items in rawr before the raid, and make note of the ones that are worth shooting for...that way I don't miss a roll or irritate the LM by saying "Hold on a sec, lemme check rawr" every kill.

While I don't intimately know enh shaman, I'm of the belief that no class has such a global absolute to their stats that pawn can ever be completely reliable. It also can't account for proc effects, where combat simulators like Rawr can and do.

Enhancement shamans use a combat simulator called enhsim that increases each stat by a set amount, re-simulates combat and determines how much increasing that stat increases DPS by. From that you can work out how much each stat is worth. I just assumed that other DPS classes had some sort of simulator to calculate EP values for Pawn.

Personally, I don't know how accurate Rawr is for other classes, but for Enh shamans its terrible, overly prioritises hit rating, doesn't work out DPS properly etc.

hi, uhhhh not many would know this but..

for algalon, do you guys think its an absolute necessity to use a DK tank? or can a druid rotate their cooldowns enough for each big bang? I dont want our MT to change roles with our OT(dps) at the moment because I think our druid tank is a beast now. he's tanked absolutely everything up to algalon thus far.

I'm not sure if it's absolutely necessary to use a DK tank, but it does help. I do the OT role in Algalon. I pop IBF and AMS (T8 4pc bonus) before it hits and I'm usually left with 30-40% hp. I'm not familiar with druid tanking and how often they can use their cooldowns though I figure they would have an edge against Big Bang with their health and armor.

I'm not sure what cooldowns a druid has to rotate, but we were having some success with a Warrior tank last week. I highly doubt that a DK is necessary.

Big bang = 90 sec CD, so barkskin will always be up for it. Not sure about other feral abilities.

Big Bang - Spell - World of Warcraft up to 88k damage. People are saying it's not reduced by armor value, only percentage damage reduction, but I dunno, that sounds fishy.

Depending on healer comp you may be able to work that also for a cooldown rotation (bubsac, wings).

Algalon only uses AttH raid wipe when there are no living targets in his phase, as well, so you might be able to pop an earth elemental and let the tank phase out as well? Just a crazy idea.

You should only need to go through 3~ cycles before the burn phase of the fight.

Since it's listed as a spell, if your DK is an unholy tank he would probably have an easier time with it.
Anti-Magic Zone - Spell - World of Warcraft
Anti-Magic Shell - Spell - World of Warcraft

combined with Magic Suppression - Spell - World of Warcraft

make spells fairly trivial. I would say having someone specced into those 3 would be the least strain on your healers at the very least.

Druids are beastly though. Aurik knows far more than i do. Just tryin to help.
