It depends completely on the profession, Jewelcrafting and Alchemy for instance make tons of gold from cutting gems or selling flasks. While Engineering and Blacksmithing won't make much unless you get rare patterns or try to dominate a market (like Titansteel Destroyers).

So I'm a complete idiot with UI's and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I want to move my Map, Recount, Buttons, ect to the bottom with the borders/backgrounds I see everyone using but I have no idea which add on allows me to do this.

My question though is I know WoW doesn't operate on a synth system like FFXI, so how does profit come about in non-gathering professions? I'm used to making all my money off of a random number generator with HQs in FFXI, which obviously doesn't apply to WoW crafting. Are their just certain synths in WoW that are profitable just buying them off the AH and crafting it, or do people make their money off of tips? Or is it just not profitable at all, and people level professions solely for the bonuses they give for having them leveled?

I'd really like to level a non-gathering profession eventually, but at the same time I don't want to get stuck with something that won't be able to make me gold. I'm just looking for a general answer here on how professions factor into the gold making process, don't need anyone telling me their money making secrets
Like most have said you, once you switch to crafting professions there are multiple methods of making gold, often you get back what you put in, time and money wise. Personaly I have JC/BS on my main toon and I make really good money off it, just as an example today I probably cut 30 or so epic gems and was getting 15-20 gold tips, just depends on how you manage it, some people will be cheap fuckers tho so expect that sometimes.

But also if you plan to raid in the furture once you get your 80, all set and geared, its a good idea to choose professions that would benefit your raiding as well.

Well to start off you'll need some basic knowledge of which addons you want (the specific names too), and what kind of layout you're going for. :] There's a pretty good starter tutorial here, which should give you an idea of what you can do with panels.

Does anyone have both a DK and a Warrior at 80?

I've been leveling dk and it's actually a lot of fun, it's 64now, but my sister has asked me to level a toon with her paladin which is 48 and my closest char is 47war. It kinda seems pointless to me to have both at 80, although maybe not. I don't know if it's worth it to have both, DK seems fun at its current level, but at 80 I won't know which I'll enjoy more until both are that level lol. Does anyone have both leveled and still find time to play and gear out each? I rather level a caster alt after dk but sister really wants a leveling partner.

I know the warrior takes more gear to be good on meters, which is the problem. I'll need 2-3 2h's for TG and Arms, and my dk will need another... Really unsure which is a more fun class to play, I'd hate to abandon the warrior at 47 but having both seems weird. It just looks so cool dual weilding 2 2h's lol. Not to mention, there are sooo many dk's.

Your enjoyment is going to be based off your personal taste obviously. If you enjoy DK now, you'll probably enjoy DK at 80. Both classes are similar on the surface, with both being able to fulfill a dps (2h and DW) role and a tanking role. DK has more variety if you want to dps (DW Frost, DW Unholy using Obliterate, DW Unholy using DC spam, 2h Blood, 2h Unholy). They also have nice survivability with Death Strike, AMS, IBF, and Death Pact baseline. That being said, Warriors still output excellent dps and excel in any encounter where they take damage on a regular basis. Also, when I played Warrior, I loved Charge, Intercept, and Intervene. There's something about those abilities that's very addicting.

Well even though I was liking DK at 64, it's on the backburner. Sister really wants me to level with her no matter what I level, and well, my first char when wow first came out was a warrior, my char in ffxi was a warrior, and gdi I always wanted a warrior. I always wanted a 2H class and I just could not stand leveling them... but nothing beats 2x 2H's lol. Most warriors I know only only only play their warrior, some dont have alts even. Can't say the same about the DK's I know. Plus, warrior takes longer to gear out efficiently, and there is less of them, so it's better getting that one 80 first if I do both at all.

Abyssal Rune and Sundial of the Exiled DO stack !

The buffs are different: "Elusive Power" and "Now is the time!".

And yes, I did test, and I did get ~ 3600 spell power unbuffed, ie, 2400+590+590

Yeah since Etain said that I have been wearing them both. Don't get a double proc too often but fairly often they proc right after one another. nifty! ;D also have a nice SS of 3900 spellpower from elusive power + now is the time! + praxis <3

gearing up a disc priest alt, I bought Frozen Tear of Elune - Item - World of Warcraft for healing, should I have gotten this: Evoker's Charm - Item - World of Warcraft ? Also, for the valor items, should I buy the stuff with mp5 or more haste/crit, etc?

As a Disc priest you shouldn't have mana issues so personally I would focus more on haste/crit/spellpower.

What tanking enchant do Protadins usually use? I'm using Rawr as a gear planner and its listing Mongoose as pretty much destroying Bladewarding or any other enchant.
Also DMC:G or The Black Heart? Again Rawr says DMC:G is pretty much god in card form.

Personally, for Disc I prefer Crit over Haste. I'm sitting at just over 28% Holy crit, so I tend to proc Divine Aegis on a fairly reliable basis. More DA procs = more damage absorbs = less theoretical mana I'm spending to cast heals. I've been trying to keep my my overall haste around 300, just for the sake of balance, but I don't worry about it too much thanks to Enlightenment and Borrowed Time.

My armory is here if you're curious (and yes, I'm geared/spec'd as Disc atm): The World of Warcraft Armory

    -----
So next week I'm going away on vacation for a week. Last year when I was away was when I picked up my priest again and levelled her up to 40 over the course of a few days, so I'm thinking of doing the same with my Shaman (who is currently level 12, not spec'd into anything, and serving as a bank alt for the moment). The only thing is, I've *never* really played a Shaman, and I'm curious about the best way to spec her for levelling. Eventually once she gets to 80 she'll wind up as Resto/Elemental, but I'm not sure either of those would be great for levelling up (pretty much going to be soloing with the BoA chest and shoulders to help me along). So... suggestions? Or can anyone point me in the right direction to read up on it? :3

Your choices from 1-40 shaman are elemental (hay lookit me I'm a mage without frost nova or blink!) or 2h enhancement (hay lookit me I'm an arms warrior wearing feral gear!). Pick the one that suits your style the best. Gearing isn't the issue it used to be with the nice upgrades given to low level blues + heirloom gear.

its alot easier and faster to go elem until you get DW both talent-wise and gear-wise. theres plenty of cloth-gear that can boost you but theres not really much leather that lets you do anything productive. i suggest swapping at 41 so you get SS (your tree should look like this Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft and cap out dw-hit the next 3 levels) and you get access to mail-gear (which raises your survivability alot)

Two points in ghost wolf wut, mounts are so low level now it's not worth it >_>

Put that shit in Ancestral Knowledge and Weapon Mastery

Also, you get access to "mail gear" from L1 now, it just scales down the armor factor to leather. I'm pretty sure the stats remain the same so you get some nice goodies from quests/dungeons that way too.

I prefer the insta-cast Ghost Wolf for leveling. When I get to many adds I toss a earth bind totem and Insta GW and get out. Cant mount wile in combat but can GW.

As an enhancement, i have never had an issue with mana because of water shield so I only have 2 in Ancestral knowledge. But all will change once I hit 80 and quit bashing things.

Movement Speed > DPS for levelling in general. Instant Ghost Wolf is not a waste at level 40.
