PlayOnline Viewer Update (Nov. 26)

At the following time, we performed a version update of the PlayOnline Viewer for the Windows version.

* The client software has also been updated at this time. The version update process will automatically begin upon login after the time stated below. Please follow the instructions that appear on your screen.

[Important Update Details]
- Friend List security was strengthened to deal with an issue where certain messages were being illegally sent from users other than friends and group friends. We have also changed the "Let's be friends!" and "Would you like to join a friend group?" messages so that senders can no longer alter the text.

- A specific message will be displayed to users who have acquired PlayOnline IDs through the FINAL FANTASY XI 14-day free trial when they log into the PlayOnline Viewer after the free trial has ended. This message will display the number of days left that the account can be transferred to regular billing-based gameplay, and can also take users to the page where these procedures can be performed.

- An issue was addressed where under certain circumstances the PlayStation 2 HDD did not have enough disk space for FINAL FANTASY XI version updates. (PlayStation 2 only)

Were those messages that annoying? I didn't see much issue with them. Just marked it as "Read" and that was it. But I've seen some shouts in Whitegate of people who seemed to be very distressed about it.

I got quite a few of them. I think maybe because I've got multiple handles.

So it was pretty annoying.

I can understand why but just in my opinion it's a small harmless thing that can easily be resolved than to work up my blood pressure. But yeh, multiple handles would be quite annoying.

I get them at least once a day, usually twice. It really is kind of annoying when I'm expecting a message from someone else, and sadly it can decide what I do for the day fishing wise. Nothing I'd shout, scream, or cut over. But it is kinda like a big pooper in your day sometimes.

Well just from my own experience the first one I got was a big "WTF is this shit" moment. Not to mention that if the websites people are spamming contain malicious code, it would be total cover-your-ass on SE's part to disable the spam.

I never got one, think I set up my POL account to be invisible to non-friends when I started playing o: It seemed to really piss people off though so it's nice that they fixed it. I know the RMT /whisper spam in WoW drives me insane.

I don't think so. Me and my 2box are on at all times and she gets one every day at least once and I never did. Completely random I think.
