Christ sakes... the media does something funny for a change and people start crying that a meme is dead. Rickrolling has been around for a long time. It was cute. Geez.

woulda been better if the float was a giant duck on wheels
I thought it was hilarious. I was watching the parade with my daughter, and when I saw that I almost died laughing.
There was an interview where he stated he hated the whole Rick Rolling thing. If you ever wanted to kill something, nothing better than doing it yourself.
yeah it sounded way too much like every recording of rickroll I have had the pleasure of being miss-linked to, no way after all these years he's able to hit that song as perfectly as he did back in the 80s
I only ever read that he thought it was strange and was confused why people liked it so much for pranks, never read that he hate'd itOriginally Posted by Skjie

Rick rolling was old like a year ago, it's funny how he's trying to keep it going. Desperate for attention, much?
They probably paid Rick a lot of money to go out and do it. Don't blame the guy. He's probably just tired of running into people who ask him to do the song.
It's no different than people remembering Rick James for "I'm Rick James, bitch!" and not what he really did. I'm sure Astley doesn't want to be remembered as "that Rickroll guy" even though it's too late.
I also don't think he hated it. It was pretty damn cold outside, I just think he wanted to get it over with.
from Wiki:
In a March 2008 interview, Astley said that he found the Rickrolling of Scientology to be "hilarious"; he also said that he will not try to capitalize on the Rickroll phenomenon with a new recording or remix of his own, but that he'd be happy to have other artists remix it. Overall, Astley is fine with the phenomenon, stating that he finds it "bizarre and funny" and that his only concern is that his "daughter doesn't get embarrassed about it." A spokesperson for Astley's record label released a comment which showed that Astley's interest with the phenomenon had faded, as they stated "I'm sorry, but he's done talking about Rickrolling."
Yeah, Wiki is the most credible site out there. Thanks for the info!
even though it has its obviously large amount of mistakes, i highly doubt that everything in there is fucking wrong, we're not writing a research paper we're looking for a quote here
also, thought it was really good, the rest of my family didn't get why i was laughing when it came on.
