Could you sit down across from these two bad-ass game designers, look them in the eye, and tell them you aren't happy with how they made Pandemonium Warden? The interviewer broached the subject, but didn't come out with any tips. Still a fairly interesting interview about the ZNM system, with the promise of an even better system for Wings of the Goddess in the future.

But I am also glad they're thinking up something new.

Hopefully the new system will be unrelated to Walk of Echoes... because then that'd be just one more endgame system we could expect from WotG (I can't just can't bring myself to believe that the Walk of Echoes would be anything other than an endgame area)

Same system bar Pande Warden / AV goddamn please. At least with Kirin you feel like you've completed a system, with Sea/ZNM it makes me feel like I can't complete them so it just leaves me pissed off. Who the hell wants to work up 80% of the way and not go for that 100%?

Is there anything in particular about ZNMs that you like? If so, please tell me why.
Sase: The monster that appears in the final tier. Everything took a lot of time, but that guy especially had us burning the midnight oil before deadline. (laughs) Creating such a magnificent monster was a blast, so it is definitely an unforgettable part of ZNM for me.
Itou: Personally, I like Ob. I had not planned to put him in at first, but Battle Director Matsui insisted it be added. (laughs)


That monster is pretty easy if you have a Puppetmaster in your party.
Itou: We were told it couldn’t be outright impossible to beat without having a Puppetmaster, so it was set up to give you that extra edge if you did bring one along.

This made me lol. Before I read the answer from Itou I moved on to the next question and instantly thought "ah you need a PUP for PW".

Obviously this is not the case now, haha.

Is there a possibility you may adjust the drop rate in the future?
Itou: There’s a possibility. Still, it won’t be happening anytime soon.

Brutal honesty, in 4 years they will increase t4 pop items.

If they have an AV/PW type monster with this new system, i say we just fly over to El Segundo and bring our pitchforks. Sick of this crap

The ???s that you trade trigger items to will reset in just 3 minutes. It makes it much easier to enjoy compared with the 15-minute reset rates up until now.
Sase: We contacted everyone involved and it turned out making it 3 minutes was no problem.
Itou: It was all Sase. “Make it 3 minutes,” he said. (laughs)
Sase: I felt that 15 minutes was a little long, so once we got the OK it became 3 minutes.

Can we look forward to more adjustments that make content easier to enjoy like that in the future?
Itou: We won’t change the fundamentals of any existing content, but adjustments to respawn times is an improvement we are going to perform.

also nice to know that they've validated a theory i subscribe to, of the expansion popped systems by comparing Kirin alongside AV and PW...

they made it sound like they made him simply cuz he was fun to code lol.

I don't get how they think 200 zeni is worthwhile for something you need to waste an assault tag, nyzul run, 3 days camping, etc... versus just doing 2 runs of normal mobs instead.

Hope they don't make it too much easier to get points, though. It's nice being able to make gil off of ZNM and have fun at the same time.
