It's amazing how you people all know the devs every thought, motive, emotion and can interpret all their words and lack of words. We are so fortunate that so many here can enlighten us on exactly what they want or don't want to hear from us. That's right, I said "you people".

If you have any brain power, you'll know it's been said that the devs are pretty much their own group of people, they do what THEY feel like, even if the people from the festivals pass word on to them, hence the:

"If people would like Scholar and Dancer to be added to Sea/Sky gear, we'll think about it..but the dev team might not agree as they have something in mind for them already."

Which you can already establish what the dev team does and doesn't want to hear from people..because if they already have things in mind, chances are they won't listen to others, not even the other SE crew.

I disagree with all the Sundi hate, from what little Ive seen through previous fanfest he seems like a decent guy, and as someone else pointed out he thinks the Kings system is ass backwards as well.

From reading the ZNM interview (Thanks Elmer!) it seems alot of the cockblocks/timesinks come from just a few people on the dev team, and hounding people that likely have nothing to do with it and who work hard to bring us content we all enjoy seems pointless.

I would think the old phrase of attracting more flies with honey then vineger would apply here, if were suddenly nice and respectful will it get AV/PW fixed?

Of course not, but it would encourage more dialogue which brings more chances to nudge the dev team into fixing old content that has irked the playerbase for years, which to their credit they have been making efforts to make this game more accessable.

Even if you don't give two sh*ts on how the Dev team is addressed, I would assume most people are tired of them inventing new and unexciting ways of dodging our questions on subjects they stubbornly won't give the answer to.

It will probably be a better use of everyone's time requesting that the next end-game system they implement doesn't put a large chunk of the best gear on an unbeatable enemy.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. It's stupid not to bug them about shitty aspects of the game that many people are annoyed with. Look at AV it was untouched by for 2-3 years and the 18 hr PW incident stirs up the media and SE changes shit with-in what a month or so? The problem is people are to complacent sitting saying to themselves, "I trust SE to improve the game without my input." Fuck no, SE is not going to fix or work on something unless people tell them that something is wrong (apart from obvious glitchs but even then I'm sure SE usually gets that info mostly from players mostly.) Why would they put work into stuff that no one really cares about, ballista anyone?

So really unless you're perfectly content with the fact SE keeps releasing bogus pop requirements, broken fights, and retardedly low drop rates then I'd suggest you say something. SE I'm 90% sure doesn't care about old content unless we bug them about it. They are the epitome of, "If it ain't broke don't fix it" or in their case, "See no evil, Hear no evil, and speak no evil" because seriously when has SE ever even brought up a major issue of gameplay and done something about it before a big chunk of FFXI players being upset by it?

Still.....all that crying over the Salvage exploit being fixed, yet did anyone ever mention the problem with Salvage drop rates in the first place? Because all I heard this past year was endless complaints about Absolute Virtue; never once heard of the Salvage issue until they hotfixed that exploit.

Nope, this is why the NA fanfestivals are pretty useless..Q&A Time! "AV AV AV AV AV Kings Cheese Sammich AV AV"..that's why it would be a lot better to have the JP players to transmit issues like drop rates, because they don't harp on fucking AV every festival..

Now it's either AV or PW..if there's other issues..like "orson" kept saying, no one caring about Ballista, bad drop rates etc..why not..talk about that instead of fucking AV? I assume horrid drop rates affects a lot more people than AV.

It was always my understanding that Sage Sundi was a Project Manager (Or lead developer whatever you want to call it) not a Dev. And the duty of a project manager is to say what goes and what doesn't go. Hence he could always scrap certain ideas and ask the dev team to go in and change things and they'd have to oblige if they want to keep their jobs. (Example he wanted GMs red like ferrari and it was done no questions asked). If the person in charge of you asks you to do something you do it especially when you have every online community telling you to do it.

So what exactly happen at last fanfest that closed the lolsundi thread? Someone actually went up to him and told him he's stupid?

when asked specifically why the kings system hadnt been changed, sundi explained that he hated it and wanted it gone and loved our ideas but the dev team thought it was fine. This makes me think sundi might actually play the game, as opposed to the dev team, which obviously does not.

It's a good thing we have someone like you who obviously knows and speaks with the devs all the time to tell us this info. The rest of us just have little translated blurbs and our own personal gripes which make us cynical towards the devs which may in turn skew what the reality of their intentions truly are. Most of us realize the devs are really just some people doing a job, balancing between making their bosses and their customers happy. Thank you for showing us that actually the devs are clearly gods who have nobody to answer to and just do what they want.
