I watched something the other day on Nat Geo or Science channel talking about how the LHC might show us how to break the speed of light (which isnt possible for us right now) but scientist say that since some galaxies are ever expanding and moving away from us, that some have to be moving past the speed of light, also was talking about how NASA is trying to use wormholes to possibly be a shortcut to millions of light years away

Yep, very interesting nonetheless. There is lots of Dino revelations out as of recently. I would wish it would get more attention but the last time I did that I had to endure weekend warriors arguing with me that particle physics is the devils science and how the LHC would destroy the planet.

I yearned for the days when I mentioned or talked to my buddy about the Higgs I would get the "what the fuck" look. I understand why they keep it as back page news now.

Do you have any pictures of these lizard chicken thingies? I'm very interested as I love dinosaurs and I love the fact that there's a chance we can re introduce extinct species again (I've always wanted to see a Dodo or have one as a pet)

Not really on topic but did you guys hear how they found a perfectly preserved dinosaur a week ago? Skin organs tendons etc all intact :O

They're still removing the sediment its encased in (or maybe not even started yet) so they haven't gone further then a CAT scan and some loose bits of skin.

they found this like 3 years ago if i recall correctly? or maybe a year. I watched "Dinosaur Mummy" on natgeo about the whole thing and how the CAT scan failed cause it was too big. However the CAT scan of the dinosaur's tail yielded great results

So I was telling my girlfriend about this and she was all excited and stuff. In the end she ended up saying something like this.

"That's what's gonna happen, we're gonna create the dinosaurs again and then we'll send em all off to their little island and then have our little nuclear war battle and they're be safe on their little island and then evolution will start all over again."

She went on to say how this has probably happened already 5 or 6 times and we only know how old the earth and stuff is based on since when it last happened. She really got my brain thinkin on such an outgoing thing to say. She wasn't REALLY serious but it's just one of those things that 'could' happen.

this couldnt happen at all, they know how old the earth is based on the radioactive decay. Basically when the earth started forming from star dust some radioactive atoms already started to decay and they measured it today to see more or less (its hard to be accurate for several reasons) how old the earth is (4.5 billion years).

So what your girlfriend said is bullshit, and if we had a nuclear war (i dont think it will happen), even the dinossaurs on that island would die. Of course, it just depends on how big the war is and where this island would be located.
