I'm excited as hell for MMM tbh
Well, it certainly would be nice to have some of those things after you've tried them multiple times...as in hundreds...
(except for the glitches - don't think anyone would argue they are entitled to those).
Let's put it in perspective of the non-endgame community. How would you feel if you had a 1 in 1000 chance to level up from 1 to 60 every time you got near to your level, and the last 100 exp was just random. As in you may or may not receive the exact exp you needed (except if it was like the other things you mentioned you likely wouldn't, in fact you might even have to win a lot on it). Yeah, that's what it feels like to not have broken things fixed.
MMM sounds fun, looks fun - im reallllllly hoping this isnt pankration 2.0
The Fields of Valor has a good name and all but its just hunting quests like WoW from the way it sounds and the random treasure chests probably wont have much besides items to make the low level less of a grind. (points off for only FFXI mainland areas)
Salvage drop rate improvements sound great but the lack of a solution to massive pricejacking on Imperial Wootz Ingots still leaves an open problem in the Salvage system.
I'd say the same for you. I only see you post whenever you think you have some easy prey to flame.
Separately, it really does seem like they're just resigned to failure with kings. They say they have no way to tell who bots, while the community has come up with a million and one ways of either rooting out cheaters or eliminating the claim war entirely.
You hear this, and you hear them talk about how they designed ZNMs to "avoid the sale of items", and you just wonder if it's the translators or the developers that rode the short bus.
Not too bad info, disappointed about how they don't seem to give a f*ck about HNMs though.
Anyway, DNC Relic looks a lot better than I was expecting (Thinking they'd just swap the red and black around.). This update sounds pretty fun, I can't wait to do thise coffer thing. I always loved Number puzles.... *Goes and plays Picross*
Allakazam is that-a-way.
While it's debatable who the center of ffxi is, what's certain is that your posting shit like this in the 'advanced' forum of BG.
Second: the way games work is challenge -> reward. If no-one can get to the reward phase, that segment of the game has failed. At the moment, Absolute virtue is 'everyone dies' at the end of a series of fights. Some reward.
It's a joke to think people will spend what are now useful mythic components just to eat dirt at P.W's feet. The whole appeal of ZNMS was getting some reasonable and fun fights with some decent gear. The appeal of super bosses is supposed to be that they test the skill of the players facing them, in theory for amazing rewards. The appeal of the 'best' gear is that as you work to expand and improve your LS, you can look down the road to bigger and better things.
Well, guess what? The end of the road in FFXI isn't even a circle of the same mobs for the same gear. It's a brick wall. Noone has overcome AV without using poor programing or gear that's ten times the time investment of the previous boss's minimum. (Ie, good strategy on JoL will let you win vs kraken clubs.) We've had YEARS now to try, it's not a matter of skill. Noone's going to get that much better at FFXI.
A group of absurdly well equipped players spent 18 hours beta testing a mob. Which is now 'nurfed' to just spam AOE instant death on everyone fighting it.
The only appeal to fighting bosses like that is hoping you find the glitch that will let you win and make a few hundred million off the drops. That seems pretty shitty compared to the spirit of the game, and the dev team ignores this fact.
I think the main question I'd like to ask about these mobs is why they exist, and if possible, could the dev team could please stop making bosses like them?
Tl;dr: get the fuck outta here this is the adult table.
Also, I am excited for random chests around vana'del, since I always thought to myself 'they should fill all this empty space with NMS and treasure chests and shit'
So, what's wrong with stirring up some shit?![]()
No
Yes
Yes
No, unless you were the one cheating.
If you think that endgame monsters should remain unkillable, you're retarded. This game is lacking content already, and cockblocking player who wants to try new things is the best way to bore them even faster.
Pandemonium and AV gears arent gamebreaking, and in both case, not being able to kill them hurt sea/znm system badly.
Nothing. It's entertaining. Was just saying I wouldn't call it "the adult table".
Melios should have just said that BG is a very niche community(it is) and left it at that tbh.
I don't think you can call PW unkillable anymore. At least not in the way that AV is unkillable. There was a very good attempt that a bunch of people got to witness and I think it can be beaten at this point. It may be hard as fuck but it seems doable compared to AV.
this. Seriously, it's bullshit. The players have shown they have the capacity to figure out how to kill an NM experimenting with various methods (see:Ixion). For a monster to go this long without being killed (AV) and to add another, similar one (PW) it's just disheartening. I may not be doing the killing, but it's pretty sad to play a game with something as indestructible as AV.
Aside from Nyzul and occasionally EXP'ing, I find my interest waning with these lackluster updates. It's cool they're finally increasing Salvage Drops, after ages of bitching about it. It never ceases to amaze me how these topics always go. Someone bitches that it should have been there 4 yrs ago, another guy responds that who cares at least they're doing it. Hell, most people I know play FF to keep in touch with their friends on the game, rather than to play the game. Once people figure out XBOX Live/PSN do the exact same things for games that usually are far more enjoyable, they'll move on.
The best thing about it is FFXI's updates were amazing for the first couple, before they started waning. It reminds me of why PSU died so fast when it came out, since it's updates never happened and when they did they sucked. (Well, that and PSU was a total tangent from older Phantasy Stars, but thats another topic)
edit: Oh, and I always thought they kept the gear drop rate so low because WOTG has fail for content/replay value. If people got what they wanted what else would they do other than realize there's nothing else to do. >_>
Personally, I wouldn't mind "impossible" HNMs in the game... if they were free-roaming. The problem with AV and PW is that you need to put a shitload of effort into just popping them, in order to get raped and waste a weekend.
Its funny because 2 of Pandemonium Wardens drops are arguably inferior to AH gear. (Dorje and Nanatsuyaya)
Theres nothing wrong with posing a challenge to playerbase but the challenges always seem to fall short of the amount of time invested into the event.
All that work to pop Pandemonium Warden and you only have perhaps 2 drops to look forward to that are truly without any equal in the game (Shenlongs and Hachiryu) and thats ONLY if you get lucky with the lootpool in the off chance someone actually pulls through a win.
Effort - Reward ratios in this game... sometimes are just so obviously disjointed.
personally i did not enjoy MMM that much. it seems too much like assault and not so much customized dungeons its intended to be like. Who knows maybe im wrong and being shallow, only the update will know :D
