Bet you guys in Dev team are just shakign their ehads cause we're totally missing some ridiculously obvious key they've practicly thrown at us, and e'r etotally overthinking and not seeing it, leading to this fuss and eventual giving up.

ersonally, they gave us hint to the trick, but they overdid the trick and we're not getting it, and now they really can't change it without giving it away.

Though it's amusing how now the De'vs teams "random two hour" trick doesnt match up cause it's only possible to two hour ocne while fighting av...

The difference between Vrtra and AV is the difference between tactic and "tricks".

I think you've touched on the fundamental problem of AV -- it's one big black box of hidden relationships between hidden variables. With other HNMs, there may have been a few special features coded into them, but by and large they followed the rules of the FFXI world in general, and could be beaten by tactics derived from those rules.

AV seems to be a matter of having the secret decoder ring. The player base has already come up with the tactics to beat AV (repeatedly), and each time SE has re-coded the black box or threatened GM actions, declaring that you will only beat it the way they intended it to be beaten.

As far as I'm concerned, AV has already been beaten. What's now up there in sea is a completely different (and much less interesting) thing that happens to share the original's name.

There's Ebon Panels in the grand palace that have no use at all (These are not to be confused with the ones in the garden needed to continue on with the CoP Missions), many people speculated the panels were used to weaken AV or something. Ever since then it's been sort of a meme of sorts. And when we get the "How do we beat this NM" debate someone usually jokes about them.

The guy that could one shot your whole damn party in a single, unblockable move?

Turns otu the trick was it did 1111x the damage of your total equipped materias, so in fact, the more gimepd your party was, the stronger and mroe formidable they became...

Or the upside down castle in ff9, where your stats were flipped and the weaker yoru weaponw as the stronger you became. They're were a couple palces all like this in various FFs, anyone wonder if this is the trick to av? Some form of gimping your character?

And now the videos are gone, cause I wanted to take a close look at what they were wearing.

No one ever really tried documenting what gear they were set up with... Though I dor ecall a couple mentions of them wearing some wierd stuff for their job...

I may be not thinking good enough, but even w/ those G2 I just don't see DNC having a lot of potential at endgame.

Dnc is awesome in endgame when you need someone to solo hold nq Behemoth for 20 mins... lol...

Well the no step is even better.
Normally we can WS by WSing then reverse flourish, which for 5 finishes nets as 72-80 tp, depends on merits.

But now, we can add in wild flourish bluilding flourish, which adds 30% dmg to ws and make sit instantly skillchain. (we can do soem serious numbers with dancing edge this way)

Downside is it uses up our finishes, seo we cant reverse flourish and get tp back.

Now though, we can BWF dancing edge, then use the no step to get our finishes back and reverse flourish. from there we have two options:

Finish up with second weaponskill and do a one man tier 3 SC, believe it's Shark bite > Pherryc Kleos, or keep the tp and wait for reset on the no step.

I'm guessing the recast on it is gonna be 5 mins, maybe we'll get lucky and get a 1 or 2 min delay, but unlikely. All in all no step is equivalent of dancer's convert.
