Everyone's glossed over fields of valor it seems. Sad to say, it seemed like some of the only "new" information to come out. The way SE seemed to be putting it, FoV sounds like a way to exp in virtually any area at any level by fighting the mobs summoned. Or maybe I'm just missing something...I'm sleepy...
Also, really, temp item coffers popping everywhere is badass. Monarch's Drink can I has?
Nice that they're catering to thf too by giving them an edge in unlocking "special" crates. Tho anyone's stupid if they think I'm going to waste money on tools to pop your coffers. Drop 'n' pop yesplz. New complaint at overcamped areas--"YOU POPPED MY COFFER, YOU BASTARD."
MMM sounds like it might not live up to expectations. 23 squares makes it sound like you can't customize terrain that much.
And all this reminds me I need to get my ass on WotG missions. Jeono (s) story yay
Overall tho, meh. Thankfully I have a lot of stuff still to look forward to in the game so I don't have a burning desire for new content.
cliff notes on fan fest please ;x
Because if people are getting use out of it and enjoying it's obviously not fucking broken to the extent no one can fucking play it. That's why s/he said if you aren't happy with it, play another job, because obviously it's functions well enough for others to enjoy it and shells to get a use out of it.
The only "fix" for jobs people expect are ones that will overpower the job, or get "new toys I'll play with for awhile, get bored and cry the job is broken and whine for more new toys."
Well, there's also the thought that people who aren't playing a job "right" might not know what's "wrong" with it. In which case, even if you're an intelligent player can see glaring flaws, that newbie who saw Carbuncle and wanted to be SMN4LIFE might be too starstruck to care. Which, well.. doesn't help the other guy.
Not necessarily. People might just be apathetically going with the flow since no better options for that job are available. Then, there are those who will job change to a rancid pile of shit if that's what got them the exp/merits/nice gear they wanted--job mechanics and inherent problems aren't a factor for this group. There are the handful who'll hop on a job and are generally indifferent/pleased with the way it plays. "I don't mind it," is their battle cry. And, of course, the ones who have only known it to play one way, broken or not. When someone mentions a flaw that contradict the playstyle they've known, it's "wtf are you talking about?"
SMN doesn't really fall into the category of "a bunch of people play it, so it must be fine." After all, I know a ton of people religiously devoted to PUP and BST respectively, would you say those are fine as well? No, and neither would they.
Sometimes, a job really is flawed, and saying "play something else" is not an acceptable answer. If your first and true passion among jobs in the game is SMN, and you find that even SMN doesn't play like SMN, then it simply won't do to go and play DRG.
Sadly, it seems most inexperienced and/or dimwitted SMN will fill the latter. Instead of pondering the true reasons their avatars only see sparing use or the true reasons they spend more time playing WHM, they're easily distracted by the allure of a new avatar which, once introduced, will get about as much use as the previous, and then they're right back where they started.
However, is it overpowered to ask for Summoning Skill to behave like most other skills, instead of the "Skill Over the Cap" shit? Is it too much to ask for more value placed on those oft-unused pre-75 Pacts? Is it too much to ask for MP cost readjustments in comparison with the expenditures of other jobs(good case here is Noctoshield or Earthen Ward vs. Accession-Phalanx/Stoneskin)?
I don't think so, and I can't imagine the reason for which the devs are stalling.
Proof that you don't know what the hell you are talking about, and should get your head out of your ass before you suffocate.
I never said it was broken to the point no one could play it. NOTHING in this game is that broken, aside from AV and PW, but to be honest, SE is probably never going to fix those.
But SE themselves have said 'Pet jobs are broken.' Three people just explained why you are wrong. Shut up and![]()
everyone is afraid to ask the big "pvp" question. Cross-servers, 1on1 duels, instant battles, a new set of armor for each job as reward from pvp, nuff said. It's gonna be huge. But noone is asking the god damn question.
Some people want gear that sets them apart from everyone else.
Some people want abilities or avatars that set them apart from everyone else.
Everyone wants to be special.
You're not special. Shut the fuck up and play the game.
I just want some nice gear that's stronger than easy stuff to get and not as powerful as say ebody which can take forever to get, guess that's asking too much. Oh and they can't reuse old armor models, how dare I expect so much off a company that makes probably $50m a month off us.
Wait, was no foot rise the finishing move meditate ability I said would probably drastically change the usefulness of Dnc?
lol @ urat's posts
is he a troll?
It seems like FFXI attracts every single person that possesses an unreasoning and blinding hatred toward PvP, which probably includes the developers(explaining the current weak state of PvP).
I wanna see improvements and expansions of it just as much as you do, but good luck getting like minds together on forums like these.
Depends on its timer, but yes. No Foot Rise -> Fully Merited Reverse Flourish = 75TP.
I'm still very curious about the new dances, if they're party effects or not. There doesn't seem to be a mention of a party effect. If they're DNC only, then it's severely limited in its usefulness.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rises_and_falls
Found that on Wiki, I wonder if that somewhat applies. No foot rise: In descriptions of the footwork of step patterns it is abbreviated as NFR and means that the heel of the support foot remains in contact with the floor until the weight is transferred onto the other foot. Most often this description is applied to a step backwards in turning figures when the person is on the inside of the turn.
"Falls", i.e., returns from the position of rise, are often separated into three actions.
- Lowering refers to returning to the normal position of flat feet and "soft" i.e., ligntly flexed knees.
- Compression refers to further lowering through the bending of the knees in preparation of pushing off the foot into the next step. It is not to be confused with "compression", which refers to hip action in Latin dances. The term "compression" is used to emphacise the fact that this lowering is not simply "dropping down", but rather the straining of the leg muscles (in an analogy with the compression of a spring) simultaneously with going down. This serves both smooth arrival onto the next support foot and preparation of the next step.
