ATI drivers for FFXI

I have an HD2600 and the suggest drivers for my card suck ass for FFXI. I lag during certain spells/abilities and ever since my game has just been sluggish.
Does anyone have good drivers for FFXI? I've heard 7.83 are the last "supported" by POL. But as of right now these suck, and playing this game is damn near unbearable.

I just got 8.3 we'll see what that does. I've just been downloading drivers and then testing them. I'll give 8.11 a shot next, thanks.

I'm on 8.11 also with no problems. When did 8.3 come out? I just built my PC last week and 8.11 was the newest on my video card manufacturer's site. O_o

I used to have an HD2600 and couldn't stand it. I tried a lot of different drivers at the time and still lagged out around anything that "glows", like avatars, tele-crystals, certain abilities and even those green foggy light things in crawler's nest. I ended up just getting a 3870 at the time and it runs just fine.

Why would you be using drivers from way back when you could just update to the newest drivers? Maybe it's just a problem with the HD2600 just like nVidia has performance problems with it's 8000 series and FFXI. My 3870's work fucking fantastic.

With the new drivers a lot of mob WSs, especially cannonball (hi2u bhaflau remnants), lag me so hard I hit 5-7 FPS. I got 8.3 and it's better but still sucks so I guess I'll try 8.11, if not it's new cards.
