OCZ and Corsair rams are some of the best performers around. They are very overclockable, reliable, and well worth the money. I put a new machine together about 3 months ago packing 4 gb OCZ DDR2 1066 ram, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz, XFX GTX280, 1 TB hard drive and creative extremegamer sound card. Total cost was about $1100.

After much thought, clearly, the minimum RAM spec for your game should be 1.21 Gigabytes.

I had 4GB with vista 64 and still slow.

I think Vista is fat because M$ wanted to slowly phase out 32 bit os and force people to jump into x64.

I am using SQL 2005 and visual studio 2005 for database development( which are not for x64 and kind of unstable). And Also use adobe create suit cs3 master collection. That's the main reason it's slow. If you something heavy like i do, i suggest you go for 8GB, which will last you very long time. 2x2GB can cost you as low as $60 for DDR2. Not bad at all.

I actually bought the G.Skill first (really liked the blue exterior), but ultimately returned them and went for a more familiar brand. I am sure G.Skill makes fine products and I will definitely revisit sometime down the line.

I don't even need 8 gigs... I mean maybe twice a month when I do really intense shit, but I don't really need it. It's rare for me to boot up 64bit except for said occasions. I do find it odd that people running 32 bit operating systems bother to have more than 4 gigs. Case in point.

I've had 8GB for about 6 months. It doesn't seem like overkill when running 6 FFXIs, media player, firefox w/ about 5-6 tabs, and a bunch of other programs all at the same time.

Not saying Ryany is running 32bit. However, if you are running a 32 bit OS you will never use more than 4 gigs. Ever.
