Why do people never do pickup (insert endgame event here)?

Also did Dynamis through pickup before to varying levels of success (mostly due to lack of people).

I am not averse to pickups, but the person leading has to know exactly what needs to be done, what jobs needed and who is going to do what.

OP is asking about pick-up End-Game Events. if you mean events like Dynamis/einherjar/salvage they get done pretty often and are most times not worth attending. I actually did a couple of Dynamis runs that I opened to anyone on my friend's list to attend and they were excellent runs, even though most of the people who attended had never done an event together. But everyone there was willing to listen and follow directions. This is where most pickups fail.

Basically, I trust in the competancy of my friends/linkshell and not in any random person I would pick up through shouts.
