Mutilate is more fun than Combat, anyway. More interesting to juggle 24-30 second ability durations than 2-3 minute cooldowns, in my book. It's probably why my warlock is still level 71.

Webbed Death doesn't exist for my guild, much to the disgust of our rogues.

It's sad because I'd like enough to drop to get one myself

heh, we finally got our first one last night. Right now I just wish Noth The LootPinata would put out my damn thrusting bands and spinning fate. Other two rogues already have them, and since we run dual 25 man raids, they actually sharded a spinning fate cause the rogue in that group already had it. -_-

Just got a KT's Reach fist, thinking about doing zerking or mong on it, and trying hat out... Problem is i'm only rogue so I doubt it'll be more dps than mute in raid, but at least I've got a good fist weapon to maybe play with in pvp.

    spreadsheets are your friend :D

Although, outside of heroic raids you're probably not going to find much weaponry to switch you back to Combat if you were running HaT or Mutilate previously. Unless you were Mutilating in Blues.

Spreadsheet is only so accurate. If I was a machine, then maybe it would be more of my friend. Not to mention, spreadsheet would be great if it worked perfectly with open office.

It's a guideline sure, but only barely better than shadowpanther... now if it was fully functional and i could remove the 30000 buffs that are defaulted on, then it might get more interesting.

Yeah like... not to say you're bad or anything, but the disparity between what you actually do and what the spreadsheet is saying you should do is pretty much how you judge how well you're actually performing.

    Beyond RNG that is, obviously.

And always remember that any disparity of DPS that can't be explained by the amount of movement/incapacitates during a fight is probably explained by improperly sequenced cycles. Turning off all the buffs helps this calculation since most rogues get their dps doubled by buffs alone.

Edit: Hmm, that's pretty much what Plow just said.

In any event you can always just swing at a practice dummy for 10 minutes and see where your numbers lie.

I've been using the spreadsheet since I had my horde rogue (ally now) and I've always loved it. But yeah it's never worked perfectly for me with open office for whatever reason. If you could save me a copy with buffs off that would be pretty awesome, only buffs I'm pretty much garunteed to have are gift and might.

I usually use a practice dummy to check, but that seems strange to me... It just seems too low of dps. I know I'm reliant on others buffs but its soooo low lol.

Some classes just scale well with buffs, is all.

I gain 3000 dps from full raid buffs/food/flask as an Enh Shaman, do you gain something like 2k?

About that yeah. Fully debuffed raid bosses are hard to come by in a PUG 10-man but when done correctly most rogues will gain minimum 2-3k dps from them alone.

sweet, just picked up a Widow's Fury from a pug lol.

Debating going KT's Reach/Widow and fooling around with combat for a bit, spreadsheet only shows about a 100dps drop.

The new rotations for combat scare me though, the 30second snd is amazing lol.

    haaaaaaaaaaaate HfB

I really wished they upped the duration of it to two mins, that'd be sweet. Right now at it's 30 sec rate it's a pain in the ass for me to pool up for it and put it in my rotation.

It's really easy. Put it on like your 1 or 2 button and pretty much constantly hit it when not in combat, that way its always up. When you enter combat you probably will have 20seconds left on it at least, so do your opening garrote>snd>mute>envenom or whatever you do, and when its under 10 refresh it once, then continue your rotation. Mutes and ruptures, mutes and envenom, probably enough time for another mute or 2, refresh again, continue rotation.

Once you get used to it, and keeping it on a button you can easily hit constantly, it wont ever drop. It's only like 20 energy anyway, no reason to be pooling for it really. I can understand pooling for a fresh string rotation, but HfB is so important that if its <10sec you want to make sure you get that back up soon or you are wasting alot more energy then you need to be.

    --------

How do you guys use your combat rotations in pve? I wanna try my KTreach/Widow soon. From what I've read its pretty much 5pt snd 5pt rupture if x time is left on snd and rupture is up then enven or something... but I don't see how that will work. 31ish secs on snd with talent+glyph, 20sec rupture, gives me 10ish seconds to get a full point enven off and build up another 5 for snd? Whats the best way to work the rotation for you guys? Do you toss in envenom/evis just less than 5pts? or even 5pts but not always use a full 5 for snd?

Sinister Strike glyph builds enough combo points for 5s/5r/5e, provided you get crit buffs. Otherwise you can do a 5/5/4 if you need the extra GCD to build 5 to refresh SnD.

Pretty sure you'd do more dps going with Reach/LPC + 5/5 CQC, but can't spreadsheet it atm to make sure. I personally used to go with Reach/Hatestrike with 5/5 CQC & 4/5 Sword Spec, but found I do more dps with the Reach/LPC combo. Here's hoping for better sword itemization when Ulduar releases.

Widow is a little better than hatestrike, but I do like the fact that it's 4 points you free up to put elsewhere. I'll put it in spreadsheet and check it out, thanks for the idea since it didn't even cross my mind (not to mention its 1 enchant i need instead of 2 ;p )
