They seem to analyze the jobs for a bit before releasing group 2 merits, like BLU they seen most wanted more Blue points, didn't use a lot of AoE spells because..well they were AoE and so on.

Also, not sure if I read another post entirely correctly, but regarding cat 2 merits for SCH/DNC- they weren't added earlier because they needed to see what benefits would be good for those jobs?

Of course they analyze player habits before adding stats on AF/Relic or implementing JSM. Problem is the execution is questionable. For every Meditate recast or Feint, you get 1.5 Warcry merits.

The leaked SCH G2s for example, they saw that m.acc and enmity are major focuses for players, but they're making the new strats unnecessarily expensive.

As I said, i've never complained about any of the previous updates. Beaucedine and Xarcabard are not "my precious", it's just that those zone could have so much potential.

The thing that bothers me the most about only 2 missions is that ppl can solo all of the missions so far, was hoping for a little challenge here, but it seems they're just gonna more CS and mini-fight(maybe). The cutscenes are fucking epic though, the dancers with the monster fishing music was nice, that epic shield bash is into my head forever. I wish fenian ring could make us shield bash like that lol.

Could the new shorter DL times be because of the recent server maintenance?

They're not shorter, they're earlier (usually 9-12, now it's 8-11).
Plus any number of extensions can take place, so don't hold your break.

Kinda wondering if this is THE update. The time, lack of normal additional info, etc kinda seems more like a "prep" update to the real one.

I'm totally expecting Odin & Alexander; I remember them mentioning somewhere that they were taking a while because they were dealing with really large models. Also, Cait Sith has fighting animations since the last update, but that could just mean we'll fight her.
