That is a decent point, but that shell is now also an astral gate. If we can interpret the gate as a origin of Alexander's power on Vana'diel, then just as the Sleeping Gods within the Protocrystals are the origin of the other avatar's powers, we'll get the physical manifestation that is presented.

Further, all Avatars are Ethereal AND Physical to begin with, they used to just run around, doing whatever they wanted. It was stated once that Summoning Magic was first used to draw power from animals (or something, having watched the old CSs in a while). That's probably how Summoning began, taking energy from anything that was around.

Unless they add some sort of new elemental or Cait Sith type thing, it's going to be a situation of Starchart or GTFO. That leaves:

Terrestial (Five total, we have three already):
- Bahamut
- Phoenix

Celestial (Eight total, we have six already):
- Odin
- Alexander

Pretend Timewarp Extraterrestrial (Two known so far, unknown total or Avatar status):
- Cait Sith
- Atomos

So there you have it, pick your poison. If I had to bet on it, it would be either Odin, Alex, or both.

It's not that we don't expect anything beyond the ones we know about, it's just harder to wrap our heads around an unknown. Before JPFF, the only reason I expected Odin/Alex over anything new (besides possibly Cait Sith) was because, if added, they would complete the elemental ring of Celestial Avatars. Now I think they're coming because of that and the size complaints, but who knows, they might be adding Bismarck or some shit.

Cait Sith sure as hell isn't big and Ixion is around as big as Titan. Odin, even his non-horse model, is larger than Diabolos. Alexander is a fucking boulder with a bunch of moving parts. Pretty sure they'll be added, even if they have a lot of edits done to them.

I agree. Not sure if you recall, but several updates back, there was released some sort of Alexander looking model that we never saw in-game (I think it was around the same time they added the last missions, and the Alexander we saw wasn't the thing the .dat miners found).

I'll try to locate the .dat.

Also, hope I have that snazzy looking' tux for my wedding~

I'd rather they just cut casting time then to just throw another avatar at us. Odin, Alexander, Bahamut, Jesus, whoever it doesn't matter. If the core mechanics of the job are always left as is, people will just go back to bitching for another avatar two weeks later. Other then that, can't wait to see what they got in store for Fan Fest.
