"I guess they don't follow their own commandments"

funny how people assume that since you are Christian, you follow the 10 commandments. That is the high guideline, but they are broken probably 10 times a minute. There is a big difference between being Perfect and being Christian.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Incase you missed it the winter solstice WAS a religious holiday, so your point is moot, and his point still stands.

In a sense, they're kinda right. Shouldn't the govt be free from religion? So any form of religion of god reference be removed just to apease those who don't believe in a higher power.

either way, I still fail to see why it's such a big deal. someone says "merry christmas" it's not like they are shoving a bible in your face trying to get you to join christianity.
as for the winter solstice thing.. wasnt that the festival that was banned for morality problems or something? i dont remember exactly. Kinda ironic though.

If your talking about the lawsuit where the judge had to rule specifically that "In God We Trust" is a secular term (seriously, I lol'd), than yes, that funny little tidbit needed to be clarified.

No, the winter solstice is an astronomical event that is co-opted into festivities either religious or areligious depending on the time/region/religion/politics of whoever was celebrating it whenever.

For example, some societies celebrate a harvest festival in september, these festivities can be a religious event done in a church, or can be completely secular. It depends on the context.

Yeah, I murder people, covet their wives, covet their property, steal, worship false idols, blaspheme, commit adultery, commit perjury, and punch my mother in the face, all while working 9-5 on a Sunday, at least ten times every minute.

    Happy Yule.

It's not a big deal, I don't think that is the point. I think they are saying that they aren't allowed to express their beliefs, but christians are. I'd tend to agree that christianity trumps all else in America and in many cases tries to squash expressions by non christians. There is an actual Congressman in Utah bringing up legislation to encourage retail stores to say "Merry Christmas".

thinking of sinning is just as bad as actually commiting it.

edit: never said you break them all 10 times a minute. and exaggerations are fun. The point is, not one Christian can say they are perfect in the sight of God.

Pat is the man. I have a linebacker on Madden in his name sake.

Because you know, he can squat some 2,000 lbs or something to that effect? Ray Lewis would be envious.

    Rofl..

People who get religious to the point where they can't accept another person's point of view without doing something retarded are fucking nutters. I posted this on my facebook, which has a lot of my cousins on it who are all CRAZY religious. I can't wait to see their reactions.

I'm not religious what-so-fucking-ever, but I went to my Aunt's place for Thanksgiving and they do that stupid "hold hands in a circle" shit and pray before dinner, and just out of respect I stood there and went along with it. I didn't bow my head or say "Amen" or any of that shit though.

I can respect other people and their religious views, but it seems that's a one-sided thing when it comes to religious vs. non-religious. The moment a person or group who doesn't believe in God or religion speaks up they're automatically blasted for it. Pretty fucking sad. Really no reason for it, unless ignorance can be considered a reason.

I DON'T SEE ANY ATHEISTS OR AGNOSTICS KNOCKING ON YOUR FUCKING DOORS ASKING YOU TO CONVERT, GIVE THEM MONEY AND JOIN THEIR CHURCH! :O DO YOU?!

    this ^

The issue at stake is the fact that some christians, probably nudged by Bill O'rly, took down a sign and dumped it in a ditch simply because they disagreed with it.
