Really? I thought it was rather simple to get used to. Basically it's like RE4 with a few tweaks. The only clumsy part of the controls are the menus and give options. There's also the issue of assigning pick up and attacks on the same button, meaning you might pick up ammo instead of uppercutting someone.

I'm already bumming this game, and I've only played the demo. I'm sure the real game will be a lot of fun.

The whole giving interface is clunky at best. I also had issues where I would have a grenade assigned to the D-pad and it would revert back to a medical item. Kind of irritating but by no means a gamebreaker.

Menu was a little clunky for me, but I'm sure after playing the retail version you get used to it after some time. It seams the action pseudo-stops for a few seconds when u open up ur inventory. Doesn't give you enuff time to use it like a pause... but mobs stopped progressing a tiny bit w/ gives u some time to juggle. Demo didn't give me any scare factor, but it was intense during the entire thing as I ran out of ammo and/or had to have my partner throw me some during the first demo scene plenty of times.
Really looking forward to the game... But i hope they fix the uppercut function a little. Either the time frame for it is tiny, or you have to be looking in the right direction to do it also. And is it that your partner has a bunch of stam shots to keep you alive, or was she using the herbs in her inventory each time u were about to die? Couldn't figure that out cause it always seemed like she was dry on herbs and reviving me

Likely herbs, I noticed on my playthroughs that the AI partner is a klepto when it comes to herbs and nabs then if you don't beat her to it. Not so much with ammo though.

ditto, thats why I would always have her give me the crap she nabs (lol). Least she seems like a good AI and not wasteful.. also love how they encourage you to use herbs in close proximity of each other since the effects get shared. I'm sure the game will have some oh shit moments, but I don't mind the action-horror style... It's a diff type of oh shit feeling that doesn't just rely on "scare" moments

You must have the "Don't piss away all your ammo" NPC, lord knows mine wasn't hesitant to waste hers.

Yeah, fully agree with the last bit of your post. A lot of people that I've seen bitching (mostly on the GT forums, which I read purely for ridiculousness entertainment) have been saying that because the demo was scary, it was pure crap. Honestly, zombies and like stopped being scary to me a while ago after the surge of zombie everything within the past few years. It's gonna be fun taking revenge in a "F YEAH I'M A BADASS" kind of way for all the times I nearly shat myself playing RE1-3.

Even in RE 1-3, zombies were never the things that would scare you (exceptions being crimson heads in REmake), everything else was supposed to do that.

Just downloaded the demo, after playing left 4 dead which granted is a completely different style of game, I gotta say this game handles like shit.

It's pretty to look at, but fuck me is attacking enemies annoying as hell. Also, WHY THE FUCK CAN'T I WALK AND ATTACK WITH THE KNIFE???!? I know thats how it was in the other Resident Evil games but come the fuck on, haven't we moved passed that shit yet? Sick of trying to use the knife only to have every enemy stop just outside my range, then attack me when I move in.

Also the scare factor hasn't been a big part of resident evil games since the third one imo.

Hated the controls and the camera movement. That's all I've got to say. I definitely won't be picking this game up.

I still have a hard time believing people really thought Dead Space was scary. And yeah, Resident Evil stopped being about horror with RE3 or Veronica. Changing to over the shoulder changed the face of the game, albeit a bit more fun in the action department. I do miss the RE1-3 style unfortunately.

I played with demo with a friend. Co-op mode is great. Not having to worry about crappy AI makes it much more enjoyable. Only complaints is there is no dodge capabilities and the controls are clunky. After playing Gears of War II and Silent Hill 5 recently, I have become fairly dependent on the dodge. Also, not being able to run/walk and shoot/knife is a pain. Either way, the game looks badass and I've always enjoyed the story and back stories that accompanied them.

Walking/Running while shooting isn't exactly the most effective method in most cases. It's probably the one realistic thing RE gets right. Though I agree you should be able to move and knife at the same time, but it would make the game so easy. If you've ever done a knife only run, you would know that it's possible.

    This.

Much prefer the Left4Dead style of zombie shooter. This just feels clunky and awkward.
It's like i'm hiding behind the character the whole time and peripheral vision sucks.

I don't think taking 5 seconds to turn around and shoot is more realistic. Those flyings monsters in the demo were driving me insane.

I enjoyed the demo in overall, but I do think the movement could be a little more fluid, without making the game too easy.

Totally agree, in fact I'll take it a step further and bring in the stupid real time menus. Fair enough you want the game to feel intense and fast paced but don't make it so fuckin easy to accidentally trade your guns to your partner when you're trying to equip a new gun. The menus totally make the game feel clunkier than it should. If I want to change weapons it should be one button.

Dude, Dpad quick selects items in your inventory.

As for movement, you get used to it, it adds to the horror feel (though not scary enough) and you learn ways to aim quickly with the quick turn. I mean, it only takes 5 seconds to aim if you're facing the wrong direction and if you are, you have bigger problems then trying to aim. A quick solution would be to have an option to turn sensitivity up.

It's cool, I felt exactly the same way you did before I figured out you could switch items so quickly. I died a few times trying to switch weapons >.>

I was playing Gears of War right before RE5 demo. Changing weapon with d-pad was the first thing I tried.

I don't think slow aiming really add to the horror feel. The horror come from the endless hoard of angry zombies walking toward you when you're in a corner. Make them harder, make headshot more important, add more zombies..etc. Slow aiming and awkward 180 degree to increase difficulty is just frustrating.

Like I said earlier, it's definitively not a bad game, and I would probably buy it if I had a 360/xbox, but there is something wrong when I think I would perform better than a video game heros in a particular situation. Waving your arms around and turning your head to look in a different direction shouldn't be something that give them trouble.

I will be picking this up, but I do agree with the comments on the controls. The lack of strafing is kind of unforgiveable. As well as the non-ability to do anything with any weapons while you're moving period. The quick turn comes in handy but I found myself using it only during the boss confrontations. I'm not going to lie, I'm picking this up because I loved RE4 and me and a buddy of mine are going to play the shit out of this cooperatively.

One major concern I have right now is the inventory. If they eliminated the whole briefcase method that was in RE4 and replaced it with that dopey asa inventory that's in there now, I'm going to be pissed. Because that essentially means you're only going to be able to carry limited shit and pretty much means maybe 2 or 3 different weapons tops. Which also means that the level of customization on said weapons will probably not exist either since a lot of the upgrades in RE4 required pieces of equipment that took inventory space(Infrared Scope, Folding Stock, Rifle Scope etc.)
