Crap. I can't touch the thing. I have enough trouble walking underneath it. I am terrified of smoke detectors.
Hopefully I can get maintenance to replace the battery when the leasing office opens.

It's called a phobia. Yes, I know it's irrational and yes, I know it's ridiculous.
I can't really explain it because it's not the loud noise. I have no real issue with the noise itself and other loud noises like fireworks, gunshots, concerts, etc. don't bother me. I also experience heightened anxiety whenever I find myself standing beneath the smoke detector for any length of time. Since it's directly outside my bedroom, I find myself walking faster into/out of my bedroom to get past it.
I'm sure I could benefit from some form of hypnosis or something, but it's not exactly something I can afford. Yes, it does affect my life and since moving to this apartment, it's become more of a problem since it's directly above my washer/dryer. (Something I hadn't considered as a factor when I moved in, but should have - but I was having so much trouble finding an affordable one-bedroom with W/D hook ups.)
But yes, I know it is ridiculous to be afraid of a tiny device. I have been afraid of them since childhood and I've always had the anxiety buildup when walking below or near them. In hotel rooms I sleep as far as possible away from them, etc. Don't know what to do about it but try to manage the anxiety as best I can. :/
Incoming rit dump on smoke detectors.
lol Zune
I'm looking to buy some dumbbells, economically, but I'm not sure where I can get some decent deals at. Are the space saver adjustable ones any good? Or are sets of dumbbells better? I'm looking for weight range from 10-50lbs (10-30lbs can work too). Anyone have any advice?
Check out thrift stores and the like, I found 35-55's in a local junk store for super cheap.
Hmm, I never thought of that. I'll see what I can find tomorrow. Thanks
Comcast just came up and started charging me an extra $9.95/month for an "HD additional outlet" fee. I have my modem on a single outlet though. Anything I can do to get rid of the charge? What should I say when I call them up?
So Comcast raised my internet rates for the third time. the pricing has got really out of hand. Does it still work that if you call and threaten to stop service they'll give you better pricing? $72/mo for basic cable is waaay too much imo.
You could get a digital antenna, Hulu+, Netflix and Amazon Prime for less than that lol.
didnt want to create a new thread for this
