Dammit, I actually went back and found it and was going to post itfuck you, still doing it
Spoiler: show
What the book is about overall is physical manifestation of human thought and creed. Like a "What If emotions and philosophy did this..." sort of book; I'd like to think it's a pretty original concept so it's hard to describe it, but because one person can only empathize and think on so many levels, different perspectives are needed eventually. I plan to study modern religions and philosophy, anything dealing with emotions, and some other stuff. My mind is pretty open so I can come up with a few different perspectives and use the sophocles's method to make characters off of that but I'm only human.
Since this is something that will take time to do, it's not pressing that get that sort of information now, I'm an avid traveler so I plan to make good use of that and have already in what I'm doing. As far as organization goes, I'm still laying stepping stones but I have my main idea and rising action, falling action; since I don't work for anyone I'm not hard pressed to do any of this in any order and possibly come up with a way to make it better.
My message of the book is to show through hyperbole, how emotions affect everything that is communicated and interpreted. I don't have a target audience and the simple question of life I would ask for a serious and nonserious answer of what life means to you, how do you live it, and what are others that you meet along the way.
Whether truthful or not diversity in the answers given will give some sort of inspiration for something.
And...yeah there ya go
how come? There is a difference between appealing to the audience through writing and writing something to be absorbed by the audience. I'm trying for the latter but I'm not forgetting the former, I think a lot of books lose a bit of luster that way when the author tries to write to "the standard" or expectations of a target audience. It still can be a good book but it doesn't feel the same. Like when Dan Brown wrote Angels and Demons I think one of the best and plot twisting devices is that he didnt write to appeal to the audience he created a miasma of different perspectives with great characters.
I'm not saying having a target audience is bad, but I don't know why I should aim for one
I have to agree with Drex here. In any medium meant for entertainment or even just for the consumption by other people you have to know who it is going to be for. You can't write a book with no target audience in mind or the book will have no target audience and if that is the case very few people will bother reading it.
This theory works for movies and games too. When I come up with a new idea for a game I can't just say "well it will do well because it is unique" I have to ask myself who is the game for, who is going to play it, what is their motivation to play it, and why would they keep playing it? These are all very important questions to answer for a game and I think they are important questions to answer for a book as well. Just because you have a target audience in mind doesn't mean that you have to pander to them hand and foot. You can focus more on the high concept of the book if you want but you will at some point need to know who the book is for.
This also doesn't mean you have to narrow that answer down to middle aged women with blond hair level of specificness. Your target audience could be adults or teens or "anyone who is interested in philosophy of communication".
Having a clear target audience in mind is also really important later on when you try to pitch the book. If you go to a publisher and try to sell your book to them they are going to want to know who is going to buy it and why.
Granted that last part is not applicable if you are self publishing.
that's a well put point and thank you!
What would you guys do in this situation?
Friend of mine. I texted yesterday morning the whole "Happy Easter yadda yadda" thing and asked if, since I'm not working tonight, he'd wanna get together. No response. Do I text again? Or do I just leave it alone. Not trying to sleep with this friend or anything but don't want to seem pushy as I've been told I have a tendency to come across that way. Thoughts?
Not trying to fuck him lol just want to hang out and watch the hockey game with a friend. And since I work nights - usually weekends - I figured I'd make a friendly invitation to come chill even if it's a work night.
Probably won't text though. Maybe he thinks I'm trying to get with him and that's why he's remaining aloof. Men. ~.~
there's another reason why he wouldn't return your text.
not trying to sound too harsh. but really there are only so many reasons you'd get ignored.
1) kids. fuckthatshit.jpg
2) doesn't seem like she'd put out. fuckthatshit.jpg

guys are REALLY easy to read. (dunno about gay ones though)
Been there done that though. It didn't work, we're now friends. It wasn't a problem before. Maybe he's just busy and I'm thinking too much. Oh well, I'll catch up with him some other time I guess.
Does he know you're ugly?
Well he's allowed to drive in the state of Florida, so he's not blind enough to have missed something so glaringly obvious.
I'm looking to buy a bike, so I've been scouring Craigslist. Specifically looking for a road bike but I don't know how to size em out.
I'm 5'10 and approx 160lbs. Any advice or general guidelines on what I should be looking for?
56 or 58cm frame
