    I got a question!

Sometimes when I wake up in the morning, my throat is spasming out and hurts like hell. as soon as i wake up it quickly stops within a few seconds, but the last thing i like waking up to is feeling like someone shoved a lightning bolt down my maw while i was sleeping. is there a way to keep ones throat from randomly contracting like it got a fit of epilepsy? it doesn't happen often, more like once a week or so, but that's still far too often in my book.

Nonsmoker, nondrinker, and as far as i know, non nightmares. I tend to remember my dreams, and although most of them are weird, none are terrifying except rarely, and those ones i can force myself to wake up when things start getting unpleasant, so i doubt my throat is freaking out from screaming in my sleep or trying to and failing.

All i know is it started about a couple years ago, roughly the same time when i noticed my wounds took a long time to heal up (like i still have a minor scrape that's slightly red, even after 2 months.)

Was thinking that as well. Do you snore badly or wake up in the night feeling out of breath? Might be worth asking your GP next time you visit. If your state/county/province has a nurses' hotline you could ask them; might point you in a direction.

never had any complaints about my snoring, and nope, i never wake up feeling out of breath either. I do have a constantly slightly stuffy/runny nose, depending on how hot or cold it is, but it's never really that bothersome, just slightly annoying.

I keep seeing these decals on cars that say something beginning with an S and then Life. I have no idea what the hell they actually say or mean. The writing is kind of scribbled, and I see them at least twice a day. Can anyone tell me wtf they say/mean?

Yes, that's it. What does that actually signify?

Hmmm.....I've had problems sleeping for years because I wake up in the middle of the night with a dry/stuffy nose and throat. After trying a million things with no luck, someone suggested I get an allergy test.

I had it done a couple of weeks ago and learned that I have a pretty severe allergy to these fuckers. I had vaguely heard about this kind of allergy in the past and thought it sounded kinda stupid. However when the doctor did the test on my arm, the dust mite test area became really red and swollen with little white bumps, so I guess it's not bs! >_>

Result: I have to buy special mattress and pillow casings, wash all bed sheets every 1-2 week in hot water, get rid of as much carpet, cushions and drapes as possible, start vacuuming way more often, etc. Since my nose isn't runny but just stuffy/dry, the doctor said he wasn't sure if it would work, but that it was definitely worth a shot. I just ordered the special casings a few days ago, so I guess I'll know in a few weeks/months if that was the problem or not.

I don't remember reading anything about throat problems in all the dust mite stuff I've read, but according to wiki, throat swelling is one of the symptoms of severe allergic reactions, so who knows. The part about your nose always being runny struck me since it's one of the main symptoms of dust mite allergy. Either way, the test is simple and fast, so it can't hurt to try.
It's also kinda neat...I learned I also have a mild allergy to wool and feathers. Who knew!

As far as I know, it's just related to, well, fishing, sailing, etc. Nowadays though it seems like everyone just has to have it on everything they own. I know of a few people that absolutely hate water and have it on a bumper sticker, kind of ridiculous if you asked me.

On a similar note, don't forget a shower curtain either. Nothing like hopping into the shower for the first time and realizing the floor is going to get soaked until you get to the store. Same with TP, towels, and any other toiletries.

You should see all the deer head outlines in TX. This is a logo for a brand of hunting equipment, but it's on like half the cars in this state. We're talking people who you'd be scared of having weapons not because they're crazy and stupid (they are!) but because they also don't know how to use them. Or girls who think the pink one is cute.

It took me a year before I figured out it wasn't a local church's symbol because of the amount/random spread of people who had them.

Oh I see a lot of those around here too, but I used to hunt so I mind that one a lot less. I just wish there were actual deer around here, been here four years and haven't seen one.

Yeah in PHX I'd see one every so often enough to notice, thought it was a Yoga thing. Moved to the bible belt and it was fucking -everywhere-, I then thought it was a churchy thing until I was in a sporting good store and walked by a display. Jaw fucking hit the floor when I saw it, I know a bitch who has one on her car and she's almost PETA level animal crazy.

So I've gotten into watching Community, about to finish season 2. And then I decided to look at tuition costs for the local community college in my area, and it's pretty cheap, much less than what I thought it was at least, with cost being a major reason why I wasn't considering going back, I thought it was thousands per semester, but it's just 2k even without any aid for a packed schedule, that's not too bad.

I've taken a number of college courses before, I had about 54 credits at Winthrop University before I dropped out, and I think transferred over I'm at like 30ish at my community college (since they don't offer some of the courses I have credit in) in I guess a mostly general field, but more focused around math/business. I'd be looking into a business degree of sorts, but I have no idea of any degrees that are worth anything. Have a friend saying his brother has a 4 year in business and he's now working to get a substitute teacher certificate because his degree means nothing.

I'm currently working at Pizza Hut and enjoy my job there, looking to be a RGM in a few years, maybe a management degree would be useful? I'm fairly solid at planning/strategizing things out, so being a manager elsewhere could be worth looking into in case something happens with PH.

But just basically, any 2 year degrees that are worth getting?

Not really. A two year degree may or may not be useful to say "oh hey, i went to college", but beyond that, they don't really mean much.

Well, that is a big part of why I never returned. I don't think degrees are worth much in most cases, but figure if there's anything I can do that WOULD be useful for the price I can get it for it would be worth it.

    A two-year degree is a stepping stone to a four-year degree.

The good news is that a large number of community colleges (at least here in Florida) have started offering limited four-year degrees. You attend a community college to save money while pursuing what is basically the first half of a four-year degree (the associates' degrees).

However, if there is a job you want to pursue that requires an A.A./A.S. degree, AND you see the value in having an A.A./A.S. degree because you eventually (i.e. within five more years) want to finish a bachelor's degree, then I say go for it. Community colleges are often more convenient for commutor/nontraditional students, as well as generally cheaper.
