Does anyone own/know someone who owns one of the SodaStream machines? The house is full of soda addicts, so I'm wondering how close to comes to the real thing.

I wasn't sure what a soda steam machine was, just looked it up. Now I am curious too. If it's good quality I would think you could save a ton of money by using it.
Sounds pretty cool. Could make some fun stuff with bitters or fruit peels.
Quick google search says they use special CO2 canisters that can't be refilled easily. Sounds like a ripoff. Just drop some dry ice in your Kool-aid.
If it's the thing I've seen at the fair's then they' can be rip offs. *googles* Yup, bingo.
They work on a razor/razor blade model - the 'blades' are the soda syrup and CO2 that are in proprietary containers.
They do save room/waste by not using as much material as conventional soda. If its for a lot of people though, I imagine just getting your own soda fountain would be cheaper.![]()

Edit: Question has been answered
Don't know where the rip off thing comes in, but they're decent machines. They do produce consistent drinks, but whether you like it or not is up to you. The cola one came off a lot like RC cola to me, and the orange flavor I just don't have a taste for. The quality of water you put in also has a big effect on taste.
The canisters are easily refilled @ Bed Bath and Beyond, 15 bucks for a 60l bottle if you bring your used one in (which you should be doing). Lasts for like 45-55 bottles in reality though, even though the bottles are a litter each. Honestly, just buy it from BBB, try it and if you don't like it just return it, they take anything back (I work there if you couldn't tell by now).
I've been looking at them, and I plan to get one. My friend has one and is very happy with it. I drink a lot of seltzer and enjoy gin& tonic so with the machine I'll have an infinite supply of the stuff and it won't go flat! The orange soda is good, I haven't tried any of the other flavors.
I'm trying to remember a word that is used to describe a made up language? Iirc it rhymes w/ "streak."
the only one I can think of is neologism but that doesn't rhyme with streak.
I got it, it was Glossolalia. I mixed my mnemonics, thanks tho.
This probably varies on many factors but;
I need to get an estimate on damage on my car for my insurance company and I have to go to one of their specified shops. When I go to get an estimate, do I need to tell them that it is for the insurance company or could I just go in and get an estimate.
Just asking because Insurance companies usually try to not pay for things and if they are listing a specific shop then its not so far of a reach to think they conspire with each other when it comes to giving estimates.
I would say just go in and ask for a quote, no need to disclose the insurance bit. If the shop straight up asks if it's for an insurance claim then you probably should say so, otherwise they might not want to take your car if they think you're being duplicitous. Probably worth shopping around at the certified shops, see who gives you the highest and/or most complete quote.
Yeah. I already went to one place for an estimate to determine if I even needed to get my insurance involved. If the Insurance Company's place is a lot different I'll go to another and if that is close to the 1st place, I'll call them out on it.
nvm
Where the FUCK do you change your Credit Card info on the stupid Click and Buy site? I got my new Visa today, and I'm about to lose my shit here because this site is so frustrating.
You don't have to go through click n buy anymore. You can do direct payment to SE now. If you go to your SE account, you should be able to do it under the payment options
Thank God.
Just found out that one of my Aunts owns a SodaStream, I'll post my feedback when we go to her house.
Anyways, SOCKS - I need new ones. I throw a pair of the basic Hanes away weekly, their heels keep wearing out, so I need something a bit more durable/comfortable. I started working at FedEx as a package "handler", and shall be exposed to the humidity and weather (Memphis). Any recommendations are appreciated, but I'd rather not pay far out the ass for them. I suppose 6~ pairs would be nice.
