tldr;

Ordered a single 8GB Vita memory card, got a small box of four instead.

Four 8GB memory cards. I only paid the $30 for the one, but they sent me four ($120 worth). They never removed them from the cardboard box the distributor sent them and just sent me the entire box.

I commend you for wanting to return them but honestly? They've already been written off as as missing/stolen by the warehouse.

You can call/email Amazon and tell them what happened, and they'll send you a box to return them. If you call enjoy being on hold for 30 minutes.

Moral highground : Returning the product would be the appropriate action, since it was an error and you received good you did not pay for.

My Highground : This isn't like someone giving you change for a 20 instead of a 10, or a cashier putting the wrong items in your bag or not charging you for something. If it came from a contractor warehouse, that contractor will have eaten the cost of the goods after their daily audit. By the time it gets back to them it will have been written off, depending on how it's written off you may be giving them back a free product.

Addendum: Fuck that stupid company in its stupid fucking ear. Having dealt with the people who run that place; if a single person screwed up and has been held responsible they have already been disciplined with a very heavy hand. Returning the item will highlight that failure if Amazon (likely) hasn't noticed their error. Then, when they item gets back they'll just destroy it/give it away. Unless its returned in immaculate condition, they can't resell it.

If you want to return them, they'll give you a return slip you can put on a box and send it back to their warehouse by going to the customer service online and filling out a ticket.

Otherwise they're yours and you'll never be bothered about it. I ended up with $~500 of equipment when I ordered like a $25 SDcard that I held onto for about a month before I sent them a notice that I had it. Was secretly hoping I'd get something like a giftcard for doing it, but didn't get anything if that was some sort of thing you were wondering about.

Halp, my hands hurt. I recently started working at a job where I have to wash my hands at least 10 times a day. The hot water doesn't work in the building so I'm stuck using ice cold water, and it's also been below freezing outside so my hands are dry enough already. I don't know if it's the soap we have to use (some kind of aloe soft soap) or if it's the bleach water I use to clean with that sometimes gets on me, but the top of my hands have turned red and any kind of lotion I use burns the shit out of me. It's mostly on my knuckles and down along my thumb/side of hand. Should I bring it up with a doctor and try to get some kind of prescription or is there a lotion I'm missing? So far I've tried Aveeno, St. Ives, Nivea, and Johnsons.

The new girlfriends mom is having a bday this Sunday. She's a third grade teacher, already is kinda iffy bout me cause I broke up her daughters last relationship in order to be with her, etc. I want a nice gift that she might enjoy, but can't think of anything.

I thought about getting her a good book, but what kinda book would a 40-something year old 3rd grade teacher enjoy? Otherwise, any ideas on awesome gifts for a possible mother in law?

I've always had problems with the backs of my hands getting all chapped in the winter and can't use most lotions because they give me a rash. What's always worked for me is the off-brand version of "Vaseline Petroleum Jelly Cream" (it's the "Equate Creamy Petroleum Jelly" or whatever that you can get at Walmart for a few bucks). It's basically just Vaseline - i.e., no fragrances or dyes - but actually gets absorbed into your skin instead of remaining a gooey mess. Worked wonders when I worked fast food.

I don't want to make a separate thread for this so here we go.

I've been tolerating someone at work for a while now. They haven't been doing anything directly to me that's bothersome. It's the voice. Imagine a mentally disabled person with no teeth, and an accent that sounds like a cat in heat getting raped and you're pretty close to reality. I've moved as far away as possible from this person, but they talk just below shouting level.

The voice is like listening to Satans nails being raked across a million freshly painted chalkboards in an echo camber. I've been wearing earplugs for about 6 months now put my ears have gotten to the point where now I pick up on the pitch and hear it through the earplugs. It's like how you can't look away from a trainwreck, you can't not pay attention to auditory horror I guess.

My question: what can I do to make this bother me less? Directly addressing the problem is out of the question, (IE ask the person to stop screaming all the time/talk softer) and my passive/aggressive countermeasure is now defeated. I have to be able to hear out of at least one ear being on a phone all day, so full ear encasing anti-noise headphones are out. If I can train myself to not focus on such annoyances I can see being a benefit in other situations as well, I just don't know where to look and this feels like something that trusting google results for could be a frustrating failure.

can you wear headphones while you work?
develop a taste for merzbow and french avant jazz and then you'll appreciate their voice, or just get some nice noise isolating ones and then listen to merzbow
