Random question pertaining to dog training:
Would it be easier to teach a dog that barking is undesirable behavior, or that it should only bark on command? My roommate thinks that teaching the dog the "Speak" command will aid in training it *not* to bark later. This strikes me as unnecessarily confusing for the animal. Thanks in advance for any useful information (be it personal experience or links to credible websites that deal with this topic).
Teaching your dog to speak does not teach your dog not to exercise its natural reflex to bark at things it considers a threat or things that excite it. There are ways to get a dog to stop barking, but they all strike me as cruel because when a dog barks, it is only doing what is natural, like eating and pooping. If you wanted your house to be quiet you should probably either have not bought a dog, or gotten a Basenji.
That being said, there are ways to train it not to bark. The behavior should be discouraged, though the only way I've known people to teach it is through collars that squirt the dog with something it doesn't like when it barks. Those are more humane than shock collars imo. There are other methods, pretty sure there are some dog trainers around here.
Like Silenka said, I wouldn't train the dog not to bark. not only does it go against all of its nature..but on the off chance that you might at sometime require that dog barking to alert you to something and it doesnt then that will suck ass.
Barking is natural, for sure, but we still train our dogs to do their "natural" behavior at times and in ways that are convenient for us. Benefits of domesticating animals and stuff. For example, don't crap in the house, and don't eat human food. The "it's natural" argument just doesn't work for me when I compare it to other common training points.
Don't waste your time with shock collars if your dog has thick fur or weighs more than 10kg or so. The problem isn't cruelty; it's that they just don't have any effect.
Dogs might naturally bark but that doesn't mean I don't want the little fucker to learn what "Shut up" means if my it wont stop yapping after a guest has been over for more than a few minutes.
When I watch Youtube videos sometimes all I see is a green picture.
Why?
Update to the latest flashplayer. If N/A go to youtube and load a vid.
1) Pause it and right click the vid.
2) Go to settings. You should see the Adobe Flash Player settings
3) Go to display and uncheck or check "Enable hardware acceleration".
Actually, I have heard of this. You are training your dog to bark on command, and rewarding them for doing so. One way to train them is to cue them when you know they are about to start barking. Barking isn't undesirable behavior, excessive barking isIf there is a stranger at the door you want to know. If you teach them how to bark on command if they start barking you tell them they are good dogs and typically they stop -- ready for their treat. Not sure this helps if your dog's issue is that they are constantly barking at other animals, but thats what I heard works for dogs that bark when there are people at the door.
http://g.co/maps/tf63x the fuck is this?
Definitely looks like an airport (looks military to me, since there's no terminal and lots of uniform trucks), though i have no idea what's with the odd patterns and the figure-eights in the dirt. Probably something aviation related, or just bored soldiers doing doughnuts.
North West strip has same patterns/similar others. They're probably learning how to drive like that which is why those donuts are everywhere.
Some of those are glowing though. O_o It could be snow, but I've never seen snow that bright.
LOOK AT THOSE RIVERS OF LIGHT AND GLOWING CIRCLES OF CIRCULARNESS!
It's water.
You missed an opportunity man. It's in china?

That's weird as fuck. Look at all the weird symbols on the ground. Surely it's some kind of invitation to the aliens. China wants any impending alien invasion to be on their side, obviously.
Mountainous region, weird symbols, airstrip looking thingies. Possibly military... Wiki has it labeled under the Yaerbashi Test Range and it has links and coordinates very close to what you put. The link I found: http://toolserver.org/~geohack/geoha...E_type:airport
