my left eye is is weaker than my right eye
is it potentially damaging if i strain my left eye by covering my right with an eyepatch (when at home obviously) or is this a generally stupid idea

I'm the opposite. My left eye is awesome, and my right eye is gimped as fuck. When I was 7-10ish my eye doctor wanted me to wear an eyepatch to help fix that, exactly as you suggest.

Being a kid, I took it off whenever I could, and the treatment was ineffective. When last I went to get new glasses, the doctor told me it's pretty much irreversible (except by various surgeries) now because my brain just completely ignores my right eye for anything other than peripheral motion sensing. I don't even have normal depth perception.

It's been used successfully to help treat weak/lazy eyes, I know b/c I was one of those kids. Did a lot to help my weak eye, though I still have a different prescription for each eye. No damage or issues with straining my eyes because of it though. If you're really worried should probably ask your eye doctor (who I'm assuming told you to do this unless you just felt pirate-y).

Is there any class I can take to make me a better public speaker besides the lolspeech classes I had back in college? I'm pretty well-spoken with everyone I know and work with, my problem is my job requires me to testify quite a bit in court and every single time I get ridiculously nervous. It's never affected any of my case work and I've always been able to get my point across eventually, I just want to be able to better articulate my testimony on the stand. I fucking hate a defense attorney asking me the same questions over and over.

I had the same problem and I took a stand-up comedy class hosted by the local communiversity. It helped quite a bit with both prepared bits in front of other people and off-the-cuff speech. I would recommend something like that.

My college had a class called "public speaking". It taught me exactly the type of things you were asking for, including things such as how to speak in front of a group, what to say, and how to say it, and how to deal with anxiety. I am suggesting you check your local college for a similar class.

There is a public speaking club that may be available in your area. It's called Toastmasters.

Have you asked your employer about any courses they offer for situations like this?

I figure they would offer employees something, instead of just throwing you at the mercy of a lawyer.
